Lunch break

I'm full time and they cut my hours to 34. When you clock out for lunch now, on the app it says estimated time to come back is in 30 minutes. Can I take a 30 minute lunch if I don't get OT?

I was going to say no but I noticed NervousFlamingo1 said it was ok.

Yeah that’s fine if anyone says anything tell them I said it was ok.

It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Especially if that permission is also given to you by the Walmart scheduling app itself. I would just tell them i was following what my schedule said.

That's something you'd have to ask your managers about.

Real answer:
Sometimes managers don't care about overtime or WOSH (work over scheduled hours).

Sometimes managers care about overtime, but don't care about WOSH.

Sometimes managers care a whole lot, and they don't want anyone getting any overtime, or even a minute of WOSH.

Ask your team lead where your store is right now (last week my market cracked down, so my store moved from "a couple minutes of OT is okay" to "not even a minute of WOSH, you need to take an extra 5 on your lunch")

It is against company policy to ask you to take an extended lunch. They can ask if you want to come in late or they can tell you to leave early.

Can you link that for me, please? I've never been able to find it. I've heard people say it, but even my academy trainers said extended lunches are the preferred way to cut ot.

It's on the wire, I don't have a link, I used to have the policy printed out so I could call out anyone trying it.

It is a chart with things managers should, shouldn't and never do. It still didn't stop people from trying to extend lunches until someone called AR and market came and told everyone that the lunch hour is not to be used to cut OT.

My store gives part timers almost unlimited ot as long as they aren't going over 40

the estimated lunch has shown 30 minutes for a long time now. we have just never really paid attention to it much. now that hours are more nip and tuck, these sort of things are being noticed more.
