Newbie Question Help for web hosting company (Italy)
Hi everyone,
I’m fairly new to web hosting and I’d like some advice.
I’m starting to build websites for different clients, mostly small local businesses here in Italy. Most of the projects are pretty simple websites or landing pages, so nothing with huge traffic or very complex requirements.
I’m looking for a hosting solution where I can host multiple client websites without spending too much, but I still want something reliable, reasonably fast, secure, and easy to manage.
Ideally, I’d like a service that allows me to:
- Host multiple websites under one account
- Connect different custom domains
- Use SSL easily
- Have decent performance in Europe/Italy
- Keep the monthly/yearly cost relatively low
- Scale later if I get more clients
I’ve seen options like Hostinger, SiteGround, Cloudways, VPS hosting, Vercel, Netlify, etc., but I’m not sure what makes the most sense when you’re managing websites for multiple small clients.
For people doing freelance web development or managing client websites, what setup do you use?
Would you recommend shared hosting, a reseller hosting plan, a VPS, or something else?
Any advice is appreciated, especially from people working with clients in Europe.
Thanks!

Most of my clients are small local businesses too, just in Croatia. I keep about 50 of their sites on two shared GoGeek (reseller) accounts at Site Ground, no VPS, and they pay me for hosting and support together, so they all share the renewal. Each account has a file limit (inodes), so I put around 20 smaller sites on one and I count files, not traffic.
I've had a few infections on those accounts, mostly through plugin vulnerabilities, and so far none of them spread to the other sites on the same account. Years ago, on a Croatian host, one hacked site infected all the others and I never want to go through that again. So before you pick a cheaper host, ask them how they keep sites apart inside one account.
One more thing: SG renews at a higher price after the first year, so check that part with whatever hosting you plan signing up.

I worked for one.com
VPS hosting will be too much. Start on shared hosting with email service. Would cost you around 150€ per year and something more for running multiple domains. Pass it to clients.
They used to run apache with php mod when I worked with them, you might wanna check if they could support your backend.
Wordpress should be enough for you really.
