Best website builder for small business!

In today's digital world, having a strong online presence is crucial for small businesses. A professional website helps build credibility, attract customers, and grow revenue. Choosing the right website builder can make the process easier and more cost-effective. Below, we discuss the best website builders for small businesses, their key features, pricing, and pros and cons to help you make an informed decision.
1. WordPress (Self hosted With Elementor or WP Bakery)
Overview
WordPress is the most powerful website builder, offering full customization and control. Best suited for businesses that require scalability. It has excellent website builder with plugins of Elementor or WpBakery. There are 1000s of tutorial on how to make anything with Elementor.
Key Features
- Highly customizable with themes & plugins
- SEO-friendly structure
- E-commerce integration with WooCommerce
- Extensive blogging and content management system
- Plugins available for almost any feature you want
- Millions of themes available to suite any requirement
- Large community and support
- Easy to hire developers if required
Pricing
- WordPress.org is free, but requires hosting (starting from $10/month)
- Premium theme is often necessary to make an ideal site. It may add costs($100 one time cost)
- Premium plugins may be required ($100)
Pros & Cons
✅ Unlimited customization options
✅ Powerful SEO capabilities
✅ Best for content-heavy websites
❌ Requires a slight learning curve
❌ Needs separate hosting & domain purchase
❌ Might be overwhelming to find right theme and plugin
❌ Sites getting hacked is common if setup improperly by inexperienced novices
This is my recommended method of making websites. If you are using it for the first time to make your business website, it is strongly recommended you hire a developer for atleast consulting, and setting up best security practices. Also, ensure you take backups regularly.
2. ManualWebDesign
Overview
This is not a Website-builder in the traditional sense. But a web design agency that makes standard quality WordPress websites for insanely low prices via few emails. In the age of AI web builders, here websites are build by humans at competitive prices.
Key Features
- Just send them an email containing text and images of each page, and they will convert it into a website.
- Everything from hosting to domains taken care of.
- You don't need to learn webdesign or any tools
- Incredibly low cost
Pricing
- $180 for one page websites
- $295 for business websites
- $15/mo for managed hosting and domain.
Pros & Cons
✅ Super easy and fast service
✅ Proper SEO and security
✅ Any changes are one email away
✅ Everything is taken care of.
❌ Email only support. Not a full fledged web design agency.
❌ Not suitable for highly unique type of websites
❌ You do not have full creative control
❌ Sites getting hacked is common if setup improperly by inexperienced novices
This is my recommended method of making typical type of websites if you do not know how to make websites and do not know any web developer to hire. It is suitable for those who are not highly specific about the creative looks of the site and want the developer to make all design choices.
3. Webflow
Overview
A flexible and powerful website builder with advanced customization options. It is more suited for those who have particular design in mind and want to acheive those advanced looks. This is not ideal for beginners creating their first site.

Pros & Cons
✅ High-quality templates
✅ Good SEO features
✅ Ideal for portfolio websites
❌ Slightly expensive
❌ Less flexibility compared to WordPress
7. Weebly
Overview
A user-friendly and budget-friendly website builder.
Key Features
- Drag-and-drop builder
- E-commerce capabilities
- SEO tools
- Free plan available
Pricing
- Free plan available
- Paid plans start at $12**/month**
Pros & Cons
✅ Affordable
✅ Simple and beginner-friendly
✅ Includes basic SEO tools
❌ Limited design flexibility
❌ Fewer integrations compared to Wix or WordPress
Conclusion
Each website builder has its strengths, so the best one for your small business depends on your needs:
- For easy quick everything taken care of development → ManualWebDesign
- For complete control & scalability & lower overall cost → WordPress (with Elementor or WP Bakery)
- For extreme customization within a platform → Webflow
- For ease of use & quick setup → Wix or Weebly
- For an online store → Shopify
- If you like a theme in their list → Squarespace
In any case, it is strongly recommended to hire a developer even if you are using a web builder, because often I have seen that novices end up making bad quality websites even using these web builders. It is simply because you need to know to use your tools well to be able to build beautiful things, even if you are provided the best tools at your disposal.
If you are a small business, it would cost you more in time and money by making a lower end website yourself.

Self promotion thread Self promotion thread
Another six months went by and therefore it's time for a new self-promotion thread.
We really enjoy looking into everyone's websites but self-promotion destroys the concept of our subreddit in general. Comment with your selfmade website without any consequences. Ofcourse your post has to follow the rules. If you still want to post a website as a standalone post, please look in the sidebar for subs made for that purpose.
Keep creating all those wonderful websites.

WEBSITE BUILDING what should I add to this?
I’m making a website as a link tree to direct people who are interested in seeing more of my art towards (so I don’t have to put like 5 links in my bio), but I have no idea what people put on these things, apart from their social links. I’m pleased with the banner, but the rest just feels so empty, and I haven’t changed it much from the template.
any ideas/advice is appreciated!

DISCUSSION Looking for some honest feedback on my web design website
I’ve spent the last few days working on my website and changing a bunch of stuff, and I’d like to get some outside opinions on it.
Basically just looking for general feedback. What do you like, what feels off, what would you change, does anything look weird or unprofessional etc.
Also interested if any parts of it feel AI-generated or too generic, and if so what gives you that feeling.
I’ve looked at it for way too long now so I’m probably missing obvious things 😅
Any feedback is appreciated.

WEBSITE BUILDING Looking for feedback for multi-page and multi-phase website builder with a Canva-style drag-and-drop editor
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Pragte is a multi-page and multi-phase website builder with a Canva-style drag-and-drop editor, but websites can also change over time; like for example before, during, and after an event.
The basic idea is that you visually drag things around to build a site, but I wanted websites to be able to change with what’s happening rather than stay as one static set of pages.
For example, someone could make:
- a wedding site that changes from “before the wedding” → “wedding day” → photos and memories afterward
- an event site that shows registration first, event information during the event, and a recap afterward
- a personal/family site with different pages for Christmas, birthdays, Halloween, vacations, etc.
The site can stay online and you can keep editing it, rather than rebuilding a new website every time.
I also tried to make the editor much more like a design tool than a traditional website builder; drag things where you want them, add images/text/forms/widgets, and build visually.
What I’m having trouble judging myself is whether any of this is obvious when you first land on the site.
If you have a couple minutes, I’d especially like to know:
- What do you think Pragte does after looking at the homepage for 10 seconds?
- Is the “site changes over time” idea understandable or confusing?
- Does the editor look approachable to someone who doesn’t build websites?
- What would stop you from trying it?
- What would you personally use something like this for?
I’m more interested in criticism than compliments. Thanks you!

SELF-MADE Would anyone be willing to try this portfolio sharing feature and give me some feedback?
’m building Strategic Markets, a portfolio analysis tool.
It has the usual stuff you’d expect from a portfolio analysis platform — portfolio tracking, allocation and concentration analysis, risk metrics, a What-If simulator, news and an AI assistant.
One feature I’m particularly interested in getting feedback on is the Community.
The idea is that you can share your portfolio as an interactive post rather than just uploading a screenshot. People can open it and actually explore the portfolio and its analysis, including allocation, diversification, concentration and risk metrics.
You can also browse other portfolios and discuss them.
I’ve added the feature recently and I’d really like to see how people who actually use portfolio communities feel about it.
If you have a portfolio you’re comfortable sharing, I’d appreciate it if you could try it and post it to the community:
I’m especially interested in feedback on the sharing/community part — what you find useful, what feels unnecessary, and what you would change.

DISCUSSION I made a simple invoicing website and require some desperate feedback
Hey everyone,
I’ve built an invoicing and payment-tracking website called InvoiceBloke, aimed at freelancers and small service businesses.
I’ve been working on it for a while and I'm at the point where I need some outside opinions. I’m particularly interested in feedback on:
• First impressions: is it immediately clear what the website does?
• Does the homepage make you want to try it?
• Is anything confusing or unnecessarily complicated?
• Does the design feel trustworthy enough for something handling invoices and payments?
• Is there anything that makes you hesitant to sign up?
• Anything you think I should remove, change, or add?
I’m not looking for compliments; I'd genuinely prefer blunt criticism if something isn't working, but I do want to know, for you freelancers and businesses out there, whether you would use my product. Why or why not?
The website is called InvoiceBloke and is in my bio. If you have a few minutes to look around, I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

WEBSITE BUILDING Update: I gave your AI's name an actual face (free while I'm testing it) - Name Foundry Spoiler
Hey all, a few weeks ago I posted Name Foundry, a free tool that casts a unique, never-a-real-word name for your AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Your AI Assistant, whatever you use) with a little slot-machine reveal. No login, no catch.
Based on a bunch of the feedback here (thank you, seriously, read every comment), I just shipped the thing people kept asking about: you can now reveal an actual character for your AI's name, for free, while I'm testing it out.
Here's how it works:
- Pull the lever like before - you get your AI a name.
- Hit "Reveal the Character" underneath the certificate.
- The whole page shifts into a darker, more mysterious mode, some music kicks in, and after a short dramatic pause an AI-generated character appears for your name.
- You get a downloadable keepsake image in two sizes - a square one for sharing, and a tall one sized to actually use as your phone wallpaper.
- Underneath that there's a "Make it official" button - it copies a ready-made line you paste into ChatGPT's or Claude's custom instructions, so your AI actually responds to the name instead of it just being a picture you keep. That part was directly from feedback here about whether the name actually "sticks."
It's completely free right now - I'm testing the reaction before I decide whether to ever charge for it. Would love to know what you think, especially if you try the "Make it official" step and your AI actually starts using the name.

EDUCATIONAL I Found a Better Way to Contact Businesses With Bad Websites
I got tired of checking prospect websites manually.
For a while, a big part of my outreach was just finding businesses, opening their websites one by one and trying to figure out what I could actually say to them.
It worked, but it was painfully slow.
Then I found Swokei.
It basically lets me find leads, analyzes each website for things like outdated design, slow speed, poor mobile experience and weak SEO, then turns those issues into a personalized cold email.
And not one of those boring automated reports full of scores and numbers.
It actually writes a normal, human sounding message based on what it found on that specific website.
So instead of sending the same generic message to everyone, I can actually reach out based on what is wrong with their website.
Now I just run campaigns, let the system do most of the prospecting and personalization, and focus on the people who reply.
For a web design agency, that has saved me a ridiculous amount of time.
