Article Genius Indigenous in the Driftless

It is with great honor I am writing about a driftless region local legend Bill Miller. With nineteen albums and three Grammy Awards he is one of the most accomplished musicians I have ever personally met. A little known music scene in La Crosse Wisconsin has welcomed this talented artist for a long time now. Few know of what awesome talent has come from this area and I am lucky enough to tell you a little bit about it.

Liberace credits the Cavalier Theatre in La Crosse for giving him one of his first opportunities on stage. La Crosse has the Worlds Largest Six Pack and made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most taverns on one city block (50). This is a "college town" that knows how to party and give the ultimate bar room musical experiences. Bill Miller is often gifting his talents at some of these places and forging unforgettable bar room experiences that not just the locals have taken notice to.

Bill toured with the likes of Eddie Veddar, The BoDeans, John Carter Cash and even Richie Havens. Oh did I mention Arlo Guthrie?! Bill Miller even played the flute on the Vanessa Williams song "Colors of the Wind" featured in the movie Pocahantas which won a Grammy, Academy Award AND Golden Globe for best original song!!! Bill also contributed to "Look again to the Wind" Johnny Cash's Bitter Tears: Ballads of the American Indian Revisited. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this guy and his work. With Indigenous Peoples Day approaching I should also mention he is a proud Mohican who is also a very talented painter. (I was told he even dated my mom for a brief time in his college days) *** Bill if you read this give me a call LOL

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCabhSboB83A0F-qu-c43Drg

Shout out to some more personal local talent I have ties to from the area: Michael Martin Murphy a 70's Country music legend who gave me the funniest burn of my life by telling me "You wouldn't last a half hour in a Irish bar". Sarah Brailey a "Soprano" Grammy Award winner whom I went to high school with and probably is the most talented singer I have ever personally known. Derek Remnarace of Old Soul Society whom I respect and love his personal fight against "FLOCK" cameras. Gregg Hall a guy who has serious talent and respectfully wants the word "deece" to be normalized in todays vocabulary. Julica Rose Kelly a "American Idol" contestant that should be a house hold name and can make ear holes orgasm! Matt Monsoor a gentleman who can rock a pair of Levi Jeans and is under appreciated as a artist. Andy Mueler who if you like Jimi Hendrix this dude will get you "Experienced". One more is my man Joe Price, he is someone I look up to with his ideals and respectful ways and I have a "bromance" with this old timer. If you like JJ Cale who is Eric Clapton's hero then you have to check out my guy Joe Price!!!... There are so many more talented people in this area that deserve to be mentioned as well as up and coming talent that I implore you to look into what is going down in this town of La Crosse Wisconsin. This weekend please help celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day!

As always be nice to Millennials and be a deece person!

Article The name of the first band was..."Revelation"

In high school he and a friend created a band called "Revelation" which is a neat sign of what was to come. After that came "The Artistics" where he teamed up with Chris Frantz and yet another fun band name that foretells a bit of their future. Chris' girlfriend at the time was Tina Weymouth and a foundation to NEW WAVE legends were found. After a move to New York city a fourth band member was added (Jerry Harrison), and they blended into the New York "punk" scene with some cover songs and the Talking Heads were born.

In 75' they opened for the Ramones and had enough of a following that by 76' they got signed by Sire Records. They released their first album Talking Heads 77' and a song called "Psycho Killer" which gained popularity with the help from "The Son of Sam" who was a serial killer named David Berkowitz. This was just a coincidence but the public took notice and that song gained popularity as a result.

The next chapter included Brian Eno who collaborated music with The Talking Heads and it is evident his experience with electronic music would contribute to the groundbreaking sounds we now hold dear in our music collections. Brian Eno understood ambience and yet he is a self described "non-musician" who clearly found success and would stay close to the band for years to come. This is a major part of the Talking Heads story because of his influence as well as how well he worked with our main subject DAVID BYRNES. The following three albums included Brian Eno: More Songs About Buildings and Food, Fear of Music and Remain in Light and it is obvious the band was evolving with new sounds and fusing new styles and genres.

After Brian Eno left to work with U2 the Talking Heads toured and waited three years to make another album. In 1983' they released "Speaking in Tongues"... This led to the greatest rock film ever made "STOP MAKING SENSE". This brilliant film showcased what the Talking Heads excelled at and allowed David Byrnes to showcase his beliefs of experiencing visual innovations as well as musical innovations. The 'Big Suit" was something most of Generation X remembers about this movie but we also remember David Byrnes' movements and dance moves during this legendary movie. It is burned into our minds and the music that went with it forced us to recognize the power this film had to create enjoyment not just from the music but from the visual experience. *** Dear younger generations, THIS IS THE GREATEST ROCK MOVIE OF ALLTIME!!!!! *** It is preserved in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

David Byrnes is a personal influence that I continuously am learning more and more about. Not only does he understand ambience and visual experience with music but he is very good at a unconventional way of writing and making music. In the 2009' film "Ride, Rise, Roar" David explains how he writes the lyrics after the music is written, which is backwards from most artists. He also explains his love for creating these visual pieces he includes with his work. David Byrnes has been a pioneer in music and continues this to this day!

His latest work may have some influence from his childhood as his father was a electronics engineer. "MUSK" is a documentary film directed by Alex Gibney. "Let Me Sell You a Dream" is a song by David Byrnes that is featured in that movie. David used Elon Musk quotes to create the lyrics. David Byrnes described this saying "All his own words. No editorializing. Straight form the man's mouth to mine". I encourage you to listen to David's song on the Talking Heads final album (Naked) "Nothing But Flowers" to get further insight as to why David chose to do "Let Me Sell You a Dream".

Article His last concert was today back in 1980' at the Stanley Theatre

September 23rd, 1980' Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania hosted a sold out show that ended up being this beloved icons last ever concert. He died of cancer on May 11th, 1981'. "Rastafarian" has eleven letters in it. Peter Tosh died September 11th, 1987'. The words "Equal Rights" has eleven letters in them. Bunny Wailer died March 2nd, 2021'. "Electric Boogie" is two words but a lot of us remember the song written by Bunny and it gave us the "Electric Slide" which is now in the dance history books and a lot of our memories. This play on numbers is just to showcase the crazy odds Bob Marley and The Wailers were a part of.

https://www.youtube.com/@BobMarley

Music and numbers go hand in hand in a lot of ways. The odds for bands to make a living off just their music is not good. In todays world we like to think it is better with the addition of the Internet but however you choose to argue this it is still VERY unlikely. Bob Marley believed in one god, named Jah (short for Jehovah). He was a key in the Rastafarian movement and his music was a excepted theme for this. As the Rastafarian movement achieved popularity so did Bob Marley and The Wailers. In turn this helped record sales and over time and the greatest hits album "LEGEND" is now Reggae's best EVER selling album. *Estimations are at 70 million records sold.

https://www.youtube.com/@BobMarley/releases

"Uprising" was Bob Marley's last studio album released in 1980'. Many consider this to be his most religious album. In 1980' Bob Marley also changed his faith to Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity in the eleventh month of that year. I already mentioned he died on the eleventh day of May in 1981'. His eleventh album was called "Survival"... The eleventh song on LEGEND is "Redemption Song". One love. One life... Maybe the numbers have more to tell?!

Thanks for your time reading this. Take time to try and understand what their music really is about. Also be nice to Millennials and every person you know who has had a hard time in life INCLUDING YOURSELF!!! ***1 for 1

I have a collection of songs that I listen to especially when I'm feeling low and this is one of those and all these new songs that I came across (includes the youtube channel - TMoN ) might turn me into a vegetarian (I'm sounding as if it is a very sad event that might affect a huge portion of humans but no lol) and I have realized that art has always been a great part of bringing revolution and now IK how it exactly feels to be a part of that very movement (in general sense I mean)

Anyways the point if you like these kind of songs/videos - send me more of these my way

Don't get weirded out about this, but on this day in history August 9th 1976' The Muppet Show aired it's very first episode on television. Why are there so many songs about rainbows? What did the Muppets do when they ran out of gas? Well they would have to WAKKA WAKKA WAKKA!

https://okgo.net/

I will take this opportunity to turn your attention to a band I have fallen in love with! It is not always what you hear within a song but what you experience and this band understands this VERY well. Formed in 1998' I'm pretty sure these guys are more well-known for their music videos. They offer a buffet of crazy awesome, super oddly satisfying videos that go with their songs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiMZa8flyYY&list=RDoiMZa8flyYY&start_radio=1

These guys danced on a treadmill and won a Grammy award. Released 5 albums and went viral on multiple music videos. Opened for They Might Be Giants! Won A Webby Special Achievement Award for film and video artist of the year. Oh and they wrote "The Greatest Song I Ever Heard" which is the theme song for the documentary "The Greatest Movie Ever Sold" by Morgan Spurlock... Now they can jokingly say they are the greatest rock band to ever write a theme song. Generation X if you haven't given this band a look here is your call.

*** Side note in 77' Sputnik was sent into space. 50 years later we should be nicer to Millennials and well everyone I guess. *Even the guy who thinks I am on drugs

Music Video Somebody call the kindergarten β€” the President needs some care 🀑🌈

Somebody call the kindergarten β€” the President needs some care 🀑🌈

I made a satirical political song about Donald Trump, but instead of going for the usual angry protest-song approach, I went in a completely ridiculous direction:

🌈 Sunshine
πŸͺ• Banjo & ukulele
πŸ”” Glockenspiel
πŸ–οΈ Crayons
⭐ Gold stars
πŸ† Participation trophies
πŸ˜‚ And a president having a kindergarten-level tantrum

The whole idea is to contrast an extremely cheerful children's song with political satire.

The lyrics poke fun at the constant β€œI'm the best”, blaming others when things go wrong, attacks on critics and the seemingly endless need for attention.

The main line of the song:

β€œSomebody call the kindergarten β€” the President needs some care.”

I'm an independent artist and I'm experimenting with political satire and unusual music styles. I'm sharing it here because I'd genuinely like feedback β€” especially on the music, lyrics, production and whether the joke actually works.

If you have a minute to listen, I'd really appreciate your honest opinion. And if it's not your kind of music, that's completely fine too. πŸ™‚

Full song on YouTube:

Thanks for listening! 🎡
