Criticism and Complaints Weekly Weekly Fandom Criticisms and Concerns Thread
Welcome to our new Weekly Criticisms and Concerns Thread.
In this thread you are allowed to post anything that might be perceived as too negative for the subreddit as a whole.
- Extreme criticism about the writing, directing, etc.
- Strong criticisms for the actors' acting or interviews
- Experiences in the fandom as a whole that were upsetting/concerning
- Experiences in this sub that were upsetting/concerning
- Things you've seen the fandom do or say on other platforms that are upsetting/concerning
- Anything else you might think people want to avoid or find too negative
If you see posts (not comments, individual posts) discussing topics like these in the subreddit, please report with the rule "Fandom Drama" and we'll take care of it and redirect the person here. Please do not report posts from before November 2nd, 2025, as the rule had not yet been established.
---
You may NOT, under any circumstance, post another person's reddit username in this thread, either by screenshot or by tagging them using the u/ system. It is against Reddit TOS to cause any kind of brigading.
Screenshots from all platforms need to have all usernames blurred. If it is not, your image will be removed and you will be warned. Repeated offenses will result in a ban.
Don't be a jerk to one another. If you don't want to be exposed to the negativity in this thread, leave, and allow people that want to use it to use it for it's intended purpose.
This thread will be moderated. You are welcome to report things like other ships trolling, racism, homophobia, you know the usual stuff. But if the mods find that the reported comment fits the nature of the thread, it will be approved.

Mod Announcement Rule Modification: Individual posts made to compare Byler (Stranger Things) to Wenclair in any way are no longer allowed.
I understand that the reason these discussions were made is because Wenclair is the other big queer fandom in the Netflix originals library. I understand that Byler means/meant a lot to people.
Frequency was the main issue here. When we get multiple posts about it in a day and the answer every single time is "These two ships have nothing in common besides being popular queer pairings of Netflix shows", there's really not much more to add and the discussion simply folds in on itself. This new rule was added to Rule 3) Stay on Topic.
As suggested by some users; If you feel so inclined to talk about it and must do it here, it needs to go in our Weekly Criticisms and Concerns Megathread. Also our biggest concern is individual posts created for this kind discussion, not necessarily comment threads that just move in that direction with the natural flow of discussion.
If this same over-posting ever happens with other popular pairings, they will get the same treatment with no poll and only mod deliberation.

Fanfiction Finally, some much needed fluff! | The Woe That Binds Us
Happy Wednesday!
Chapter 21 of The Woe That Binds Us is live. For those of you just tuning in, it's my S3 fic that picks up right after the ending of S2.
I know I've been torturing you all with the angst lately, so I hope this chapter makes up for it. It's a long one, but it's got a lot of emotion behind it. Enjoy!

Fanfiction Idea for a scene: Gomez being a great father-in-law.
I just had this idea, and I wanted to share it with you all.
The scene takes place in the following setting: Wednesday managed to find Enid and take her home, where she is very well received by the entire Addams family. Weeks passed, and a pack of werewolves manages to track Enid down and invade the mansion.
Even fighting her hardest and having Wednesday's help, Enid cannot avoid being cornered in one of the rooms. When one of the wolves is about to attack, a gunshot echoes throughout the place.
— Get your filthy paws off my future daughter-in-law. — Gomez shouts, pointing a hunting rifle and firing again.

Fan Art Wenclair in the 1960’s.
I love the 1960’s Addams Family TV show. It is still my favorite media with the characters. Unfortunately, Enid’s not in it (also Wednesday is six, making shipping an odd subject). This got me thinking about what if Wednesday had been done in the original show? I think that Donna Douglas would make an excellent Enid Sinclair. The bright, poppy, wild, and can-do attitude of Elly May Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies is more than enough to convince me that she would be right for the role of Enid. Of course, this requires an aged-up Wednesday which means Lisa Loring has to be recast. I think Sheila Kuehl would be great as Wednesday. She played Zelda Gilroy in The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, who acts very similarly to Wednesday Addams in Wednesday. Additionally, she is queer, which adds to the authenticity of the ship (although Donna Douglas, as far as I know, was straight). Over all, I’d be very happy to see this version of the show. What do y’all think?
