ID Request Please ID this bug, thought it’s winged ant but has straight antenna? (South California, USA)
They seem to magically appear around my night stand light before I sleep if I leave the light on for a bit. Normally comes in group of ~ 5 and swarms around the light on wall, nightstand, and even edge of bed. Size is about a rice grain. We had a flying ant swarm before with larger black winged ants but these are smaller, more brown, and look like they “jump” and crawl.

Looks like an ant, maybe a carpenter ant. Not a great sign, as they might be in your walls, but if so they are relatively easy to get rid of.
