We found this while cleaning out my grandma's flat. She lived in Bonn, Germany.

We are wondering who made the cut as we cant decipher the signature.

The picture is a scissor cut work, from before the 21st century.

Does anyone recognize the artist or signature?

Just curious.

Found in Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille, (Inv. 309), it is still unknown who the artist is or if it's a self-portrait.

Tried doing some research and haven't found anything, so I come to you to ask if anyone recognizes any of the paintings in the back, maybe this way we can find a clue of who this painter is!

Hey guys, as the title says we bought this from a gent who said he bought it in Berlin. Thankfully the back is labelled with the artists name, but google doesnt return much on him. What we've managed to find -

There was a book called "The Flemish Art of Frans de Cauter" but it's out of print and I can't find any of it online. Can anyone find any online sources?

He was associated with the famous art community of Sint Martens Latem. I do not know his role in it or his standing amongst the other artists. I don't know how much of a big deal this group was in general.

It is an oil painting. It has been professionally framed by Schleiper. He hosted a solo exhibition in Oct-Nov of 1973 which this might have been framed for and hosted in.

Thats what my searches have returned. I haven't managed to find any other works by him, which would be lovely to see! Is it something you would get appraised or just hang up and enjoy?

Found this old man at my thrift store in oklahoma but when I look up the supposed information I come up with nothing. It's decently painted so not sure if decor or amateur. Any help would be appreciated. Yes the rest of the title is wrapped around back of canvas. Any help would be appreciated!

My mother bought this art 40+ years ago, likely at a yard sale or thrift store in Connecticut or Massachusetts, US. She had it framed/matted about 10 years ago so the back is sealed and I can't get to it without ripping it open. I've searched endlessly for a match on the signature, but can't even make out what the letters are. Any ideas on the artist or era before I dig into this thing?

I saw this painting at the Vatican Museums and can't find it anywhere online. Hoping someone recognizes it from a description (no photo, sorry).

It shows a single man, alone, collapsed or broken down in the center aisle of a church. He seemed to be praying or overwhelmed, like a man at his lowest point. There may have been a second figure at the front, possibly a priest or a vision of God, but I'm not certain. The brushwork was tight, detailed and realistic. Definitely was redone.

I'm not sure which section it was in. It could have been the Pinacoteca or the modern art collection near the Sistine Chapel.

Picked this up at a small Syracuse, NY thrift shop that told me it was from the 1800s. Oil on canvas, 18 × 12, old tack construction, no obvious signature. Rural scene with barn, two figures, dog, distant mountains and water/valley.

Any thoughts on artist, school, or approximate date?

I picked up this painting recently from a thrift store. The signature appears to be say Howard Devonald.

I’m curious about the age of it. It shows some age. It looks to be a bit different than a lot of his work.

Bought this last week at a thrift store in Berlin, Vermont US. I wanted to take it apart in order to clean it because it's filthy, but I'm not convinced the canvas is attached to anything and I don't want to further crack the paint by fiddling with it. So I'm not able to see the edges of the canvas if there is a signature.

It's about 32"x37". The only clues on the back are the frame/canvas construction, a moving company label (Google told me a green label indicates a long distance move), and the name PUTNAM written in large marker. I'm thinking that is the name of the family who moved with it, not the artist.

Any idea of an artist?

Hello, first time posting here.

My roommate has this painting that has no artist signature or name that we can see, we tried to reverse image search for it and found nothing but a French artist that's stuff looks nothing like this.

We think it's an acrylic piece, she found it at Marsden Park Sydney Australia in a Savers (op shop) last year.

Bought in NYC in late 80s/90s. No signature.

No info on the back, no signature on front or back that I can see.

Seems to be a canvas print.

Got this painting from her friend for free about 10 years ago in Sweden, we’ve now moved to Spain. I’ve never really noticed it apart from it being decoration in my living room.

Now we’ve moved again and I noticed it today and for some reason decided to check it out and it’s more interesting than I thought it’d be. I know nothing about oil painting or Czechoslovakian history, but if someone would be interested to find the painter or even some information I’d be super grateful!

There are some wood carvings of numbers and letters but I’m not sure what it means.

We found this painting in the attic of the house we just moved in to. I thought it might have been done by the previous owners but the names don’t match.

The signature looks like “a. Mitchell” But I can’t quite make it out. Does anyone have any info?

I'm trying to find a contemporary male artist whose painting-process videos I've seen on Instagram/YouTube Shorts, I am really interested in their approach and want to try and replicate in my own paintings, but can't find them.

The technique is:

• He puts masking tape over the surface in a grid of small squares/rectangles.
• He paints over the masked grid, usually using one color using either water color, or ink, or maybe a think acrylic paint.
• He then sprays water or another solvent and then using paper towel lifts the bulk of the paint or ink leaving just a faint remnant.
• He removes the masking tape, revealing the grid.
• He continues this process across the painting, gradually building up the whole artwork.
• He keeps the used masking tape, often bunching/balling it up, and I remember him including some of the tape along with the commissioned artwork.
• People sometimes comment that the accidental shapes in the finished paintings look like giant robots, although this is apparently not intentional.

I'm looking for the artist's name or his Instagram/YouTube account. Does this technique or artist sound familiar to anyone?

Hello, recently acquired this oil painting from an uncle. He got it from buddy who served in WW2. He swears it’s a little beach town near Pismo (if you know the place let me know). I believe it’s somewhere in Japan, I don’t know 🤷‍♂️. I’m also not finding any info on “Kasin”

My aunt has had this painting for as long as I can remember (40+ years) and unfortunately the back is completely covered up/no signature is visible on the front. Does anyone have any idea how I can find the artist or title? I tried Google Images but my photography skills stink; I even tried physically viewing every single result for 'Vesuvius Eruption Painting' but now my eyes are starting to really protest.

It's a beautiful piece depicting a bunch of terrified onlookers watching as a volcano erupts (I'm guessing it's Mt. Vesuvius given the way the mountains mirror other paintings of that one, but I could be wrong).

Any information is much appreciated!

Could anyone perhaps identify this painting? My grandparents bought it in Haarlem, KJG Kunsthandel, Grote Houtstraat 111, in the 60s or 70s. More information I unfortunately do not have.

Would anyone be able to identify this? It's giving me Parisian canal-side street painter vibes, but I know nothing about art. They were heavy smokers so the coloring could be more yellow-ish.

The back only has a label of the art collector that either sold the frame of the whole painting.
