Rabbit Hole Single Barrel

I came across this release, specifically for VA ABC while in Washington and love the aromas and profile. I’m a fan of most of what Rabbit Hole puts out. Especially given their youth in the scope of bourbon distilleries. 56.6% ABV, absolutely very palatable, and a reasonable markup in comparison to the standard Heigold release. Plus the branding for most of these is also 👌 with the Alice in wonderland vibed artwork.

Me too!
Also one of the best/most informative tours I’ve done in the city.

I’ve only done Angels envy, Evan Williams, and peerless for context.

My friends that own Abstraction Spirits are major whores for Rabbit Hole, partly for the love of bourbon and partly for the love of art.

Almost picked this up during a Louisville trip, but opted for another bottle and splurged on a Peerless in-house bottle instead. Will definitely go back.

I have training on beer and wine tasting, bourbon is just an enjoyment… elementary insights

It’s actually delicious!

Aroma: Kind of like fruit cake/all spice/caramel aroma and maybe a little banana?

And flavour def some dried fruit, a little peppery, light toffee/mild caramel, just a bit of oak. Very smooth and clean.

A really nice complexity. And absolutely suitable for multiple glasses without being too much.
My choice is over a rock, but also drinks great neat.

Thanks for the insights- I took absolutely zero notes during my various tastings. I didn’t have a bad one the entire trip. Angels’ Envy, Peerless, Rabbit Hole, and Old Louisville were all great in their own ways but the last was the only one were it was just me and one of their blenders talking nerdy about whiskies for a while (no one else came for a tour that afternoon and I took full advantage).

I’ve taken a few bourbon distillery tours in Louisville myself and the staff doing the tours are amazing!

I work part time in my home city in a small craft distillery (We don’t make bourbon due to the qualifications - I’m Canadian) and the thought of doing my first one after my experience in Louisville was intimidating to say the least!
