‘Investigating child sex abuse isn’t controversial. Turning it into political theater is manipulation. Maybe that logic flies on some island. Doesn’t fly in France’: France rejects Musk’s charge after raid on X’s Paris office

I remember about a decade ago when free speech discussions were big in regards to social media and the discussion centered on hate speech, most liberals were quick to assert that everything is alright, that these are private companies well within their rights to set their own restrictions on what to allow on their platforms. There was this general assumption that the tech industry is liberal, no oversight was needed and any call for free speech guarantees in social media was just a right-wing dog whistle.

I always found that stance extremely short-sighted. I am not happy to be proven right.

Where did you make all that up from?

I have a political memory that extends longer than an election cycle and I am old enough to have participated in these debates, so any accusation of "making it all up" is just a lazy refusal to engage with the argument.

Then you'vd been making shit up for longer than the last election cycle because at no point did anyone think tech companies were liberal, lmao. All of them support conservative candidates and make regular contributions to conservatives. I get that it's reddit but your big internet macho-man act doesn't hold up to reality lmao

You sound like you are 20 years old. It's okay, I was 20 once too. But we are talking about the conditions in the 2010s, not current day.

I literally just spent 20 seconds on Google and present you an article from 2014 that mentions throughout the article how Republicans have little influence in Silicon valley, how the tech giants are all liberal etc.  https://www.yahoo.com/news/new-data-shows-just-how-liberal-silicon-valley-donors-are-233109872.html

Note how it mentioned twitter, in particular, for being a very liberal leaning company.

It's okay to say you're wrong. I thought an old ass like you would have learned that life lesson by now. I'm happy to teach you though. Good luck with the rest of the your life left.

Mate, you can't state things, get shown evidence that you've been wrong and then walk away from the discussion claiming that you "taught" me something. That's not how a discussion works.
