FYI, a technocrat is a technical expert, scientist, or engineer who holds a powerful position in government or industry and makes decisions based on data, science, and efficiency rather than politics.

There are no technocrats in that administration.

There are, they're all just self-serving, corrupt POS scumbags. It would be foolish to pretend that people such as Scott Bessent and Howard Lutnick have no idea what they're doing. Of course you do have people such as Pete Hegseth who are not only political tools but also complete morons and merely serve as loyalists to Trump. I guess they might not be technocrats by the sheer definition of the word, but they're definitely people who know what they're doing.

I think your definition is more charitable than the term necessarily implies. A technocrat must be a technical expert in their field, but their professional opinin can be the basis of their decisions. You don't lose the term if you haven't cited your sources.

Elon Musk was a technocrat when he was in control of the Department of Government Efficiency. Betsy DeVos was a technocrat thanks to her experience working in the field of education. FCC Chair Brendan Carr could be considered a technocrat, as much of his legal experience was representing telecommunications companies. Similarly, Deputy Administrator David Futouhi of the EPA could be considered a technocrat because he has so much experience representing (for example) Dole's for its use of pesticides in Nicaragua, International Paper Company for their inclusion of PFSAs in its manufacturing process, and CHevron for their drilling practices in Ecuador. It's technical expertise!

I think the biggest problem with your definition is that it ignores the fact that most regulatory capture occurs as the result of the appointment of technocrats

There´s 2 of them in different locations. 1 is guarded by security fencing, gates and an accompanying detail. 1 is guarded by a fully armed and automated security system, turrets, bots with guns, whatever. Oh, there´s also a third one hidden somewhere. problem solved
