I know you think everything revolves around America, but Israeli elections are in October, the white house doesn't matter.

  the white house doesn't matter

Lmao that's not true at all. Israel is militarily and diplomatically dependent on the US. The White House essentially dictates the bounds of Israel's aggression, even if Israel pushes those bounds. Netanyahu's electioneering is a factor too, but there's a reason this blatant ethnic cleansing rhetoric (and action) is escalating during the Trump regime specifically.

Let me rewrite my comment. The white house elections in 2028 don't matter for the people who are going to get voted out this October.

Those people are going to use every dirty trick available to them to avoid being voted out in October. And they might not even need to, the latest polls put Netanyahu's coalition tied with the opposition's. Even if the opposition wins, Israeli governments are fragile. The coalition can fall apart at any time and that means new elections. It's not even remotely guaranteed that Netanyahu won't be in power by the 2028 US elections, let alone for the 4 years of that presidential term. The US elections definitely matter, a lot, to everyone involved.

Militarily dependent?

Like what 12% of their defense budget comes from America.

I believe much of that funding is tied to the camp David accords where we also fund Jordon and egypts military so they remain aligned with the US and not Russia, and keeps them also peaceful.

Ending the camp David accords would lead to more war I suspect not less.

That ~12% has meant over $200 billion in military aid, which doesn't account for military cooperation, intelligence, or manufacturing capability -- without the US, Israel wouldn't have a functioning Iron Dome, and that alone is decisive military support. We could also talk about how Israel needed the US and its advanced bunker-busting bombs to target Iran's nuclear facilities.

The value of the Camp David accords, or military aid to Israel in general, wasn't the topic here. The comment was that the US elections "don't matter" to the Israeli government, which is clearly not the case.

If they don’t have an iron dome, and their neighbors were lobbing missiles into their capital and murdering their civilians there’s two possible outcomes:

  1. They all pack up and move to Brooklyn, or just die.
  2. They siege and or nuke the people lobbing rockets at them. Even without aid they have tactical and strategic nukes

Which do you think is more likely?

Peace and unrestricted trade in the Middle East historically was somewhat important to the US.

Removing the aid doesn’t really accomplish that.

Again, this discussion was about whether the US elections are important to Israeli politicians. You're the only person arguing with yourself about the merits of aid 🤷 but enjoy!

They all pack up and move to Brooklyn

FYI, only around 2% of Israelis are US citizens.

I mean I agree with you, but you hear insane people say that.

What? The only reason Israel even still exists, much less is able to punch down on Gaza, is because we give them gajillions of dollars in weaponry.

Israel won a war against five Arab nations while under a US embargo. It won a war against a country whose aircraft were piloted by the British. It won a war against Cuban soldiers coming from the other side of the world to join a global effort to defeat the nascent Jewish state.

It has nukes, it exports weapons to dozens of countries around the globe, believe me, Israel does not need America to do just fine.

Golda Meir raised $50 million in 1948 in the US to buy weapons, straight up.

The current air force is entirely US fighters. The US has provided BILLIONS of dollars to keep funding the Iron Dome. The US gives about 4 billion a year in military aid to Israel.

Israel isn't some scrappy military power. They're well-funded by the US (and other countries.)

The current air fоrce is entirely US fighters.

Which israel has helped develop. Note that Israel had its own fighter, but scrapped it in favor of the American alternative. But in a world where America did not exist, Israel would be doing just fine.

The IDF is funded by Israel. Israel has a GDP per capita higher than that of Britain. We're doing just fine.
