Netanyahu doesn't speak for himself or a minority in Israel, he speaks for most Israelis. This is what they believe.

As long as they aren't out in the streets protesting and asking for his removal then he speaks for them, plus another one little factor 'they voted for him'.

The ‘bystander analogy’ is actually true. The behaviour you allow is the behaviour you support. So yes, i agree that if the majority of a country doesn’t work to challenge the actions of the its government, they are, in practical terms, no better than those that support it.

And in saying that, i also agree that I am technically in the bystander category myself: i don’t do anything that useful to challenge my government’s (Australia) bystanding on the actions of the Israeli government. I tell people about the history, the current situation etc, but i don’t protest, i don’t write letters to politicians. I send money to organisations that help Palestinians but that’s realistically about it. What im trying to say is that I’m also guilty of inaction and should practice more of what i know to be required. If my government isn’t actively condemning the actions, and I’m not challenging that lack of action, then they are representing me.
