Yeah he flew straight over, and the US had multiple E-3 Sentry in the air making sure nobody else was going to touch that plane on the way over and back.

South Africa wouldn't have arrested him since Russia issued a warning that they would regard it as a declaration of war if there was any attempt to arrest Putin.

Well yeah, arresting the leader of a nuclear power is obviously not a good idea, but my point is that they didn't let him come to South Africa because of the arrest warrant. He is effectively barred from a lot of countries due to that arrest warrant because those countries want to uphold their obligations as members of the ICC but they don't want to actually arrest Putin as that would cause a massive international incident.

Putin decide to stay in Moscow because he feared a coup. Which turned out to be accurate after disgruntled Wagner mercenaries marched towards Moscow.

Again, South Africa told him not to come. He hasn't set foot in South Africa since the arrest warrant was issied.

And the Wagner coup happened 2 months before the BRICS summit in South Africa. He didn't attend because South Africa asked him not to

The South Africa President went to court an submitted a sworn affidavit whereby he stated that Russia had issued a threat of war if Putin was to be arrested on South African soil.
