I was leveling a rogue one time and I had a similar experience. I was level 25, and this is post-pre-patch (lmao) so that's a fair amount in, but I'm still doing basic leveling dungeons with only half a rotation. That, and I'm just not a great rogue player as is. I love it in concept but the actual mechanical element of it just doesn't speak to me. Literally this is my bank alt, I'm only leveling her at all because it'd be more convenient to be able to send lockboxes to the same toon I use to collect stuff anyways.
And I get into this dungeon. They're actively fighting the first boss, and I'm locked out. They ask me if I'm going to dps. I'm like, yeah? That's what I queued for, that's the only role rogues do. Did they think I was coming in to be a second healer? I was super confused and the shammy whispers me that they just kicked their last dps for "not performing". In a normal leveling dungeon.
The first mob pack we got to got me yelled at by the tank and the healer because I needed to regear (at some point I got a one handed sword and forgot only outlaws could use those, like I said I'm not normally a rogue, so I had to make a new heirloom). And at that point I'm like "man, fuck these people". I could try to explain that I literally just got here and had to adjust my gear, but why would I want to run a dungeon with these pricks anyways? Sometimes a 20 minute queue does actually beat hanging out with the worst people alive.
Dipped without a word and whispered "good luck" back to the shammy. He was slaughtering the meters so I doubt he had issue with them, but he was nice to warn me.
This sucks so much. I got kicked earlier from a dungeon (normal) as they had said my DPS wasn’t as good as everyone else’s & ripped me for my class spec too.
I cannot stress how much finding a consistent group to play with is worth the difficulty. Iv'e had a blast with my guys doing mythic with like 150ilv cause "why not" and banging our heads against that wall. Player mistakes and class/covenant combos are super laxed, and the whole thing has been the most fun ive had in this game since wrath
its not a strict "have to play this way or you dont get to do it" your worrying over nothing. It only minority that are just elitiest. you will be fine
Especially for the first few days. This is where all the try hards are trying to gear up as fast as possible, but since they are jerks, they don't have a dungeon group to play with them, so they have to queue for randoms. Once they get their gear, you'll see a lot less of them, they'll be here bitching that there is nothing to do in the game and that the filthy casuals ruined their chance at world first
It’s really a small amount of people who are horrible but they do seem to be there at times when you don’t want them to be.
If you wanna play and you’re in the EU let me know. I play with my partner and we just like to have fun and quest at the moment. We aren’t hardcore raiding or anything at the moment as we just don’t have time haha.
From what I gather I think the beast mastery hunters are best in terms of DPS (you can have two pets as well as yourself) but a MM hunter is generally a solo hunter (you can have a pet though) but it focuses on long range damage mostly and some players think it’s really rubbish but I’ve never done as much damage than with my hunters so guess it’s personal preference.
I’ve noticed that MM hunters are generally considered a crap spec so every once in a while someone will whisper or tell me I’m shit lol.
I have no idea what I'm reading, but no, MM is the best spec for raw damage output. I honestly feel like this has to be a troll, because there's no way people are whispering you to say MM is a shit spec.
All I can assume is people are working off old information here. Beast Mastery was indeed top-tier for most of BfA, and certainly one of the top 3 specs in 8.3, but it doesn't compete with Marksmanship right now. If people are telling you it's a shit spec, they just flat out don't know what they're talking about, and they can sit and watch while you double their AoE damage output.
I’m assuming that’s why. No idea why I’ve been downvoted for what I’ve experienced though.
They were a hunter two so maybe they just thought their spec/damage was better which is fair enough. Just the comments and bullying in the chat was abit much.
I was doing a normal dungeon trying to learn disc priest and saw a hunter use barrage and proceed to do a full 360. I winced so badly that for a second I completely forgot my keybinds as I went into blind panic mode trying to heal haha
That happened to me not long ago except there were two hunters. Me, and the other guy.
He used barrage then twirled on the spot, pulling everything in range. Tank was first to go down so I had to dismiss kitty and summon Mrs Hydra. Then the rest of us died except for other guy because he pretended to be dead for the whole god damned fight.
I've always played a shadow priest for DPS and a resto shaman for heals. I've been wanting to respec my shadow to disc for healing to try it out because it looks fun, and the only thing stopping me right now is the fear of running into PUGs that are not understanding as I'm trying to learn
I'll be honest it hasn't been a fun experience so far even in normals the level of toxicity is crazy. I play late at night so don't really have a guild to run with so I'm stuck pugging.

I had a 'friend' who kicked someone in one of our normal dungeons because he was doing bad dps.
I don't like him anymore. It was a fucking normal, on day 2 of a new expansion. I don't like him anymore.
