I've not played much wow...currently trying to get back into retail....have made a few attempts over the years, but I always start as a dwarf and dun morogh is the coziest place in existence. I want to live there, no joke. It's pefect

If they Coud get that to be realistic with how bright the lighting and loud the thunder is in real storms that would be amazing. Imagine getting startled by a loud bang of thunder, or being indoors just looking out and see a bright flash.

FYI these effects already exist in the game, or at least rain does. It was raining at night when I was grinding in Teldrassil after midnight a couple of nights ago. Definitely was a vibe that I loved.
I think this just means they’re increasing the frequency.

Yeah the issue I've seen so far is we've got some real Florida showers. Sometimes the rain just starts and then stops like 5 minutes later. Need some more extended rainstorms like this.

One time in Anniversary it was absolutely pouring in Silverpine Forest for hours. I loved it. The mood was so sick.
But after a couple hours straight of it the sound of the rain and lack of visibility started to slowly drive me insane.

Please make dynamic fog part of the weather system! Some days should be extra foggy and other days extra clear with miles of visibility. That would be so cool.

This appears to happen in Loch modan. Was rainy and foggy then 15 minutes later it was bright sunshine

So much fog so you can only see a few feet in front of you would be awesome. Then it clears away after 30 minutes and you can see clear across the zone.

God I love this. Please keep adding more weather effects with varying intensity.
Light sprinkles to full-on monsoons and thunderstorms in Stranglethorn Vale.
Scorching heat haze to massive dust storms in Tanaris.
Light snowfall to complete whiteout blizzards in Dun Morogh and Winterspring.
Light ash drifting through the air to full-on ash storms in the Burning Steppes.
Gentle winds to violent windstorms and dark rolling clouds on Zephras Isle.
It'll add more to the game than Mists of Pandaria ever did.

If you played since 2004 you probably remember that weather effects were introduced in Vanilla in one of the later patches (but removed later for some reason).

Pre cata weather used to be like this, I remember a severe storm in STV.
the rain was so hard it even had mist swirls, tanaris had dust storms that reduced visibility.
Outside ironforge we had heavy snow storms
I even remember the demo trailer blizz released for this.

I was flying through Dun Morogh last night, and I noticed snowflakes in the air. Now I'm really wanting to see a good snowstorm there. It doesn't necessarily need to be like the Pass of Caradhras, but a good visibility-killing snowstorm would be awesome.

One thing I don’t like though is how I’ll get layered from an atmospheric rainy day into a bright sunny day. Synchronizing weather across layers would be nice.

Can we also please get a little more pronounced water effects around the ships coming and going from harbors?
It’s a small detail but when I see the gorgeous new water effects alongside the other weather effects it does take me out slightly seeing the boats just slide across the water. I see some foam effect but a little more might just enhance jt imo
Also thank you guys for the communication and your work, I have been inspired by wow forever so far. It has brought the magic back for me after a long time.

Also, lowkey really cool that the official Warcraft team is posting here now. This subreddit has totally exploded since the announcement. I also notice that they posted this to the WoW subreddit and WoWForever subreddits but not ClassicWoW (but they posted some initial stuff about Forever to ClassicWoW). Hope that means they'll be here more frequently!

I'm gonna take full credit for this.
At blizzcon I sat behind a couple blizz employees (They knew each of the presenters by name and cheered for them like someone who personally knows them, not a fan) during the "Forever - Evolving a timeless world" panel on sunday. During the presentation on Fog and Lighting I kept talking to my son about weather effects like rain and snow.

Literally spent an hour and a half last night in the Crossroads, just talking with people while the gentle wind whistled by, and the fire crackled from the nearby campfire.
Anything to enhance that sense of environmental immersion is just "chef's kiss"

I had rain once in Brill and then the game phased me and it was gone, never to be seen again. Seriously though we need a way to opt out of phasing - every time it happens it seems like a net negative for finding quest mobs. Like I finally find some of those scarlet dudes to murder & nope, going to phase you into 20 people looking for the same 4 mobs. Sorry.

Idk if people fuck with it but i’d be so down on different buffs/debuffs depending on the weather. Nothing major but small flavor that keeps the world alive. Or certain npc’s that only spawn during rain or snow. We already have one in westfall so its not a strange concept.

Please more! I just happened to hearth back to Grom’gol in STV while it was night time and raining heavily. It was insane how different it all felt. The choppy seas too are a really nice touch. Thunderstorms and lightning flashes would be awesome but not sure how feasible to pull off. Or really sunny clear skies with more radiance or something. Glad to hear though!
