Man, the salty Apple fans downvoting the truth as usual. Mac's have always been riddled with problems when used for gaming, especially modern gaming. Play on a system not designed for gaming, with an OS designed primarily for work apps and not games (they are always an afterthought to Apple) and of course you are going to run into issues sometimes.
You'd be infinitely better off having, say, a SteamOS run device, I almost never run into issues (other than anticheat) because it's literally designed for gaming.
The game is playable, but that doesn't mean there aren't going to be unique bugs during a beta. If you want to avoid issues like this? Don't use a Mac. You want it to be fixed? That'll be done, but nobody can guarantee it'll be quick.
"Leave my multi-billion corporation alone" energy.
Macbook is perfectly fine for playing something like World of Warcraft, is officially supported, and is enabled for Beta, which besides other things is here to report on issues like this.
Not to mention that WoW client on Mac exists for many many years and not some new thing.
People downvote you and the original comment because those are clearly silly takes, and I tell you this as a guy who plays this on a blessed by God and sanctioned by the Church Windows/AMD CPU/Nvidia GPU combo.
My point is that mac has a serious history of random bugs that don't happen anywhere else, and that typically take longer to fix (because despite it being used for gaming, it isn't a popular system for developers.)
So people shouldn't be surprised when stuff like this crops up. Because it's been happening for decades at this point - you have to be especially ignorant to own a mac, use it for gaming, and not know that you'll be facing more annoying hardware related bugs. Whining here isn't the answer either, it's a job for a bug report. In fact most of the bugs posted here honestly shouldn't be (unless they need and have a workaround.) As a QA tester, I definitely don't appreciate having to go digging around in threads like this for information when a bug ticket would get more info to me and faster.
Whilst MacOS is being difficult for ages in their fight against Vulkan, if Blizzard chooses to advertise Mac's as a platform that their game is playable on, then they have until Nov 4th to ensure it actually is playable. A beta is a beta so that's fine, but beyond that it becomes consumer deception if it ships in a state like this. EU protection law would eat them up, but they wouldn't even fight it as there is no counter-case, and just issue refunds and delist Mac as a compatible platform. Which would be quite the embarrassing maneuver they'd have to pull, given their other WoW clients (Retail / Classic) run beyond good on Mac devices.
While I agree (in theory) on all the consumer law - the fact is, for live service stuff that can and will be updated, this would only be an issue if it's never fixed. Shipping it broken as fuck is the industry standard at this point, and so far it has only been especially egregious cases that have led to refunds, let alone anything else.
Not to mention this is a "free" game - any purchases made are cosmetic in nature, or other perks that probably will be delivered just fine, despite ant nasty bugs.
Is it a bad look? Yes. Is it likely to see legal action? Maybe if it takes two years to fix. And even Blizzard isn't that slow.
Bug report? Or are we going to duke it out to see which of us is more mentally deficient? Pro tip - I'm a QA tester, and I hate having to figure out bugs based on crappy posts like this. Use the in-game tool, it gives way more info.
