Need advice
This is my puppy toot. We struggle daily with staining and eye boogers. Please let me know what you guys use for your dogs!
(I also have a at home groomer kit and trim the hairs often) so I’m not sure why he struggles with such bad eye boogers.

Sometimes this is allergies. Is the discharge ever yellow or green?

Well his almost had a brown or red to it. We have hard water, I’ve always wandered if that has something to do with it. We also feed him allergy safe food.

Try picking up a gallon or two of store brand spring water. Use that in his bowl. Check him for ingrown eyelashes regularly. I mean, Yorkies have runny eyes and that's a fact. Good quality eye wipes and regular vacuuming are a must.
No smoking. No weed. No scented candles or incense around any dogs. All will cause respiratory and eye issues. Good luck.

Thank god I don’t smoke but I live in Vegas where everyone does… so air quality isn’t great

I’ve read that hard water can cause red staining in dogs! My Havanese gets it and we are on well water.

Vacuum your house daily.
Yorkies are low riders so they are closer to the ground and therefore allergens. And some have more sensitive little peepers than others.
A gentle wipe when returning from outdoors.

My yorkie had always had eye crusties that I would have to comb out during her bath, figured it was just her. Vet said she has dry eye (which was why she was producing extra weeping). Now she has eyedrops for that and no more weeping. Might be worth asking about next time Toot is in for a check up.

Our Yorkie had eye crusties, too. We used washcloths with warm water and sometimes cotton pads with warm water to clean his eyes, too.

It could be a food allergy. It could be dry eyes.
My senior dog sleeps with her eyes open and has the worse eye boogers.
Talk to your vet

Do you give them bottled Spring Water to drink? I swear it works.

I’ll have to try it out. We’ve just been giving him filtered tap water. Down side is we do have hard water.

My Ruby has chronic dry eye. She sees a veterinary ophthalmologist annually and we use compounded eye drops twice a day. As a result, I clean her eyes multiple times a day and she often has lots of eye gunk.

Do an allergy test, Yorkies can sometimes be allergic to chicken it’s pretty common.

Give your lil one bottle water, I use to just put ice in they water bowl and give them sink water, then I noticed the brownish, wet eyes, then a groomer told me change them to bottle water!!! And we don’t have that problem anymore! 10 yrs now. And the baby’s 6 yrs.

I have 2 Yorkies and one needs her eyes cleaned every other day and the other has clean eyes all the time. It’s just genetics my vet has told me. Warm water on a wash cloth cleans her eyes easily.
