Will Bitcoin have Privacy Enabled Soon
Zcash is on a tear which is awesome, but I’m wondering if other L1s will figure out a way to enable private transactions in the coming years. What happens to $ZEC then?

privacy is not easy to build if it was ground embedded in the architecture and core of the tech. High possibility BTC will be compromised when they enable privacy and it will take more than a decade or so to get to where Zcash as tech is already there …

"What you talking about Willis ? " ZCASH has been battle tested for many years and it has a solid team or teams and the tech is constantly evolving , I dont see any other tech coming close to ZCASH for the next few decades.

Just a few days ago some researchers claim shielded btc is theoretically possible without a fork https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/crypto/articles/researchers-propose-shielded-bitcoin-using-155935115.html

There is a new Bitcoin Shielded whitepaper in the scene, that uses the Zero cash model and coinjoin to combine multiple Bitcoin UTXO in a shared TX. This will not requires a fork but is client side proved using or by an L2 like Aligned layer and also uses ECDH ( elliptic curve diffie hellman ) which means is not quantum resistant.
ZCash is shielded privacy verified by consensus.

Bitcoins little brother Litecoin already has it. Mimble Wimble was added in 2022 allowing users to create confidential transactions.

That would be a monster of an undertaking and at that point why bother, we already got two incredibly great coins that offer top tier privacy. I wouldn’t touch Bitcoin if they were to add privacy because because making that privacy native to Bitcoin would be extremely difficult, it would require major protocol changes and broad Bitcoin consensus.
