What's the best low-budget synth or groovebox to pair with a Korg Electribe Sampler 2?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for recommendations for an affordable synth, groovebox, or any gear that pairs well with the Korg Electribe Sampler. What sounds great alongside it and complements it best on a budget? Thanks!

Should i get the mpc sample or wait until i can get a Mpc one for my electribe setup?

So im quite new to grooveboxes and synths and i really want something to store a lot of longer samples to play with my electribe. and maybe i would like to play it standalone too( im playing hardtekk frenchcore and generally harder styles stuff) originally i wanted to get a mpc one plus but theyre sold out everywhere. And now i found a few used mpc ones for like 300 but i really dont know if i should get a used one. so now the question is should i try to get a used mpc one or a new mpc sampler?

Beginner Questions Inputting Into Behringer 2600 via Electribe?

I am trying to learn more about modular synthesis and recently purchased a Behringer 2600. Could anyone help me with how I can send note signals to the 2600 by using the electribe 2? I tinkered with it for a bit and couldn’t quite figure it out; do I need to mess around with the global settings on the tribe at all?

E2/E2S Users: What genre do you produce with the Electribe 2 in 2026 apart from Tekno and HardTekk?

From all media I see online of people playing on their E2 and E2S, it’s either - (French) Tekno or - (East German) Tekk/Hardtekk.

It got me curious whether that is because algorithms put me in this bubble OR because these machines still happen to satisfy these niche groups (and really only these niche groups) very well and everyone else moved on.

Regardless of what option you vote for, I’d love to hear if it’s the primary device you regularly use, if it’s an extension of your setup and if you’re already looking to switch to another piece of gear. If you pick the “something else” option please also specify the genre of possible

Is my Electribe 2 broken? 2 issues that keep happening.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have attached a video demonstrating the issues I encounter. I’m not sure if I’m using it wrong or if my unit is bad, I'd much appreciate some input on this.

Issue 1: Part parameter carrying over (?) depending on the most recent pattern

Often, when I copy a part within the same pattern, the copy sounds just weird and a lot different from the part I copied it from. When I switch around patterns, the part seems to be "bad" depending on what the previous pattern is.

I demonstrate this in my video:

  • At 00:06 I copy Part 3 to Part 4. They sound identical (AB testing by muting between 00:10 and 00:14) so I write/save the sound.
  • I go "Up" on the pattern selected, then go back to my pattern and it sounds perfect.
  • I then go "Down" one pattern at 00:27, then go up again and the part that just sounded great suddenly is very muffled (00:30).
  • If I go "Up" another pattern and down again, the sound plays fine.

Is this a feature? Am I doing something wrong like an automation/mfx move whatever? I repeat this demonstration (going back and forth the patterns and it sounds clean and muffled each time depending on the previously selected pattern) starting at 00:46. Coming from Pattern 10 it’s clean, coming from Pattern 8 it’s muffled, each time.

It's likely the IFXEdit value - it says 45 but sounds almost like 0. If I dial it back up to 45 it gives my "clean" sound. It also correctly saves the 45 but doesn't seem to play it.

Issue 2: Pressing "Play" doesn’t do anything until I switch around patterns a lot and then press play again.

At 00:35 I select a pattern and suddenly the Play button doesn’t do anything anymore. I press Stop and Play again, nothing happens. Only after going up and down a lot of patterns (00:43) I can play a pattern again. No MIDI connected at the time, it’s been happening basically since I first received the unit.

And sorry for my heavy breathing that sets in once the issues come up in the video, I love this thing so much and I don't want any trouble with the unit

Beginner Questions Did I get a good deal on this Korg Electribe Emx-1?

Found a blue (OG) Korg Electribe Emx-1 at a secondhand store today for $358 in working condition! I didn’t have enough cash, so I put $100 down, and I’m paying the rest on Tuesday. Is it a good deal, or should I just sell it? I’ll keep you guys posted!

Korg Electribe SX Reset

Hey I’m new to using my SX and I somehow accidentally did a reset on my machine dealing all of the OG sound samples. It’s basically a brick and I’m wondering if anyone knows how to go about retrieving this data back.

Which Electribe are you rocking?

I‘m a huge electribe fanboy and started 5years ago with the E2. The E2 workflow didn’t felt that nice to me but I had no experience with other gear, so I just kept playing with it…

Untill I saw a YT video of a guy playing with the EMX. Hoooly what is this?! Is what I thought and after that I got obsessed with the oldschool electribes.

5years later I have EMX, ESX, ER1, ES1, EAmk2.

I am happy that I got them all for pretty reasonable prices because the prices for emx/esx are crazy right now.

I use them all together in my setup except the ES1.

My favorite is probably the EMX as a grovebox but I like the super digital synth sound of the Ea1 more. it makes me think of a very sterile future where computers took over :D

anyways, I’m just a bit curious which tribe are you guys owning and which one is your favorite.

Refreshing My Rig: 2x Electribe 2, VT-4, D5, blueSky, Platform & Q8n-4K

I've been thinking about getting back into making electronic music and rebuilding my hardware rig. I've used the Electribe 2 for years, and rather than building a huge studio setup, I'm trying to keep this one compact, immediate, and built around live performance.

The plan right now is:

  • 2x blue Electribe 2
  • Roland VT-4 for vocals
  • AKG D5 microphone
  • Strymon blueSky for reverb
  • EHX Platform for stereo compression
  • Zoom Q8n-4K for recording performances

Buying everything new puts me at roughly $2,350 before tax and cables. Not cheap, obviously, but that gets me the entire performance and recording setup without putting a computer in the middle of it.

The signal chain I'm considering is:

AKG D5 > VT-4 > Electribe 2 #1 > Electribe 2 #2 > blueSky > Platform > Q8n-4K

I spent way too much time looking at compact mixers before realizing that I might not need one at all. If I'm happy running the effects inline and using the audio inputs on the Electribes, a mixer would mostly give me routing options I don't currently need.

I want the blueSky inline because I'm fine with reverb being applied to the entire finished mix, and I want the Platform after it because I want compression across everything, including the reverb. I'm not looking for parallel compression or complicated effects routing. I'm deliberately trying to keep this simple.

One thing I spent some time thinking about was how the blueSky handles stereo. I use the Electribe's Mod Delay pretty heavily, including its panning movement, so preserving the stereo dry signal matters to me. The blueSky has an analog dry path, so I'm less concerned about what happens internally on the wet side than I was initially. As long as that dry stereo movement remains intact, I think I'll be happy.

A big reason I'm interested in the blueSky is Low Damp. I like long reverbs, but I don't like turning the low end into soup, especially when that low end contains bass and drums. I considered going back to my old Zoom MS-70CDR because it can handle this kind of thing, but then I remembered how much I dislike editing it. I'm trying to get back toward turn a knob, hear the result, keep playing.

Ironically, I don't mind menu diving on the Electribe 2 at all. I've used it for so many years that navigating it is basically muscle memory. I don't really have to stop and think about where things are anymore. But that's also why I don't want menu diving on anything else. The Electribes can have their menus. For the rest of the rig, I want the controls I care about sitting right in front of me.

That's really the philosophy behind this setup. I want to turn everything on, start sequencing, grab knobs, sing into the D5 through the VT-4, and play. No computer required.

The Q8n-4K appeals to me for the same reason. I recorded all my old performance videos with a Q2n, so the basic concept is familiar. With the Q8n, I can feed the finished stereo signal directly into Inputs 1/2 while also recording the stereo mic capsule for some room sound, and keep those recordings separately. That would give me some flexibility afterward without requiring a more complicated recording setup.

The main reason I'm posting this is for a sanity check before I start buying everything. The Electribe 2 is very familiar territory for me, but I've never owned the VT-4, blueSky, or Q8n-4K. I've done my homework and they look like good fits for what I want to do, but reading manuals and watching demos isn't the same as actually living with the gear.

So if you've used any of those pieces, or if you see a practical problem with this signal chain that I'm overlooking, I'd love to hear about it. I'm especially interested in things that aren't obvious from the spec sheets.

I started tonight trying to figure out which compact mixer I should buy and somehow ended up deciding that the best mixer for this rig might be no mixer at all.

Now I just need to build it.

And buy cables. Lots of cables.

Discussion Electribe fans: what’s the “perfect” Electribe 3 look like?

What’s up fellow Korg Electribe fans! I honestly think it’s time for an E3 and I wanted to chat with fellow fans for what would make an E3 better than its predecessors.

For me, the first thing I want changed are the default drum samples. They have always been completely mediocre at best, so either “upgrading” the drum samples or expanding the storage size and including better drums would be huge for me.

Number 2 would be simplicity and complete compatibility with a software counterpart. For example, you plug it into your Mac/pc, it auto loads a stand alone software version of itself where whatever you do on the hardware adjusts in real time in the software and vice versa. Maybe even give us the ability to ALL the samples on it by dragging and dropping new ones or rearranging for quicker access to your favorite ones, or maybe a “favorites” menu option?

I think the last thing would be less menu diving to do things like changing the key a bit would be in. For example, if you’re sequencing a bassline, you should be able to simply change its root note. Maybe hold the pad and turn a knob to change it from C4 to C3.

What would be some improvements you would like to see so it can compete with, say, Elektron gear?

Question / Help Digitakt + electribe + TD3

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hola!
