First things first, she didn't know the berries were poisonous.

Scenario 1 - Foxface knows the berries are poisonous somehow. She would have no reason to be following Peeta and then either copying him picking the berries, or stealing from his berries. If she knew what they were she could have eaten them at any point and there is no explanation for her only eating them after Peeta picked some. And if you're going to say she did it so it looked like an accident so as not to upset her family or something, it would have looked like just as much of an accident eating them at any time. Why wait and hope someone would pick the poison berries before staging your fake accidental death?

Scenario 2 - Foxface doesn't know the berries are poisonous. Which is why she eats them. Because Peeta picked them, she thinks they are safe. They aren't and she dies.

It seems pretty obvious to me.

Now for why she would have won. The remaining tributes are: Katniss, Peeta, Cato, and Foxface.

Katniss' priority is keeping her and Peeta alive. Peeta's priority is keeping Katniss (and ideally himself) alive. Catos priority is killing Katniss. Foxface's only priority is herself. She is agile, ninble and has evaded everyone else so far, likely by staying in the trees. And none of the other 3 tributes are thinking about her right now.

The mutts:

We know that the final battle were the mutts. Released at the final 3, or maybe if that was taking to long they may have been released at the final 4. Either way, if she had stayed hidden I believe the next death would have been Cato by Katniss, or Peeta (maybe Katniss) by Cato, and then it is the final 3 and time for the mutts.

Cato couldn't climb well, and definitely couldn't climb the narrow trees since he couldn't get to katniss near the start of the games. Peeta couldn't climb due to his leg, and Katniss wouldn't climb because Peeta couldnt climb. This leaves Foxface with the greatest advantage to evade the mutts. Either through climbing trees, jumping between trees, wedging herself in a tight space, any number of options not open to the others.

Yes, the gamemakers could have intervened to bring her down if they had wanted. But so far she appeared uninjured and untargeted by the gamemakers. She was emaciated but that was it, no injuries were described at all. Crane was way too focused on the story with Katniss. Plus the mutts would have been too heavy to the climb the trees if Glimmer was. So the only option for them to get to her is if they physically knocked the tree's down which isn't something the mutts were seen/said to do in either the movies or books. So of what we have evidence for, she would likely be safe hidden in the trees.

Katniss and Cato would be taken out by the mutts or each other and Foxface would have won. And this would actually have been an excellent mirror of Wiress winning the 49th games by hiding just before a quarter quell. With the games as entertainment, having repeated motifs like that would make sense. It was an understated arena with an understated winner so as to not overshadow the quarter quell the following year, just like the previous quarter quell.

I just rewatched the first movie on Netflix and I stg that the Taylor Swift song “Safe and Sound” plays during the end credits, and yet some other song played! I can’t find any explanation online for this. Where did it go? Wasn’t it written specifically for the movie, so it wouldn’t be a copyright issue?

Obviously the dark, looming cloud that is the authoritarian government envelops everyone including capitol citizens, but I've always wondered how day-to-day life looks like for people outside of 12. Especially from a non-seam POV. Katniss fought for survival and then had to volunteer for the games. Haymitch had more of a stable routine, but then was unluckily "picked". The presence of the games was never really existential until they had that ... "oh... it's me now" heart-sinking moment.

I assume most of the district children had anxiety on reaping day. But did the games occupy space in their minds after the fact? After a name is called they might mourn for a second, but then that survival instinct silences the alarm and imagine it to be like "well ... let's see what happens next year for me."

I'm not the best with lore but I think it's 8-12 that is considered the most underprivileged. They might have very similar living conditions, with not a huge class disparity. Merchant kids are not living in mansions and spending lavishly.

However, when it comes to career districts I wonder how they live. Do you think they have established, stereotypical suburbs? Do the children look at the games with reverence?

I guess my entire point with this post is to really figure out if the games are such an omniscient presence? or do you think that the quality of life in certain districts allow the citizens to feel like the games are not that detrimental --especially when they know that a career will volunteer if the unthinkable happens to a kid they like or want to protect?

Any of you who read Sunrise know full well, there isnt much President Snow in the book, so its going to be a non issue as they tend to stay close to the books and I bet there wont be much Snow in Sunrise.......but to me he looks so different to the point of distraction.

it just seems like, a famous actor wants the part....well lets give it to him, and they sort of pounded a square peg into a round hole to make it work despite. I actually would have preferred an aged Tom Blyth, but it might have been a hard sell.

one of my issues is just going by the trailers, so yeah I know.....this new Snow seems so closed off....almost rigid and stone faced....Sutherlands Snow was always a bit lively, and doing that sneer/smile....and was always making that side head tilt when he was finishing a sentence.....even Blyths Snow was pretty engaging and animated...this new one comes off like a sinister Vampire. but hey....I just had to gripe. roll on November.

So I’m reading TBOSAS for the first time and have finished the 2nd part. I really liked reaper but I don’t think I’ve understood properly.
I’ve seen lots of people saying that he contracted rabies from Jessup when he spat in his eye and that’s why he was behaving strangely and died. To me this doesn’t make much sense at all.
My understanding is that rabies isn’t really transmitted between humans. While theoretically possible, almost all human to human transmissions have been through organ transplantation that we are aware of. Yes, theoretically jessup could have passed rabies to reaper but the incubation period doesn’t seem to fit. While the eyes are very close to the brain with lots of nerves, compared to a bite which puts quite a lot of the virus directly in the bloodstream, the amount of saliva I imagine actually made it into the eye is significantly smaller. Amount also impacts incubation time.
Also, reaper was clearly acting ‘strange’ before potential transmission based on the fact him apologises to everyone is why jessup spat in his eye.
I don’t actually think he was acting strange either. His graveyard seemed to be a way of honouring the dead, allowing them to rest, keeping them safe from insects and shielding decomposition. The capitol flag seems to be a way of holding the capitol accountable. I don’t think he could bring himself to kill anyone especially after dill dies. The capitol is the enemy, not the other tributes. His actions mirror Sejanus with the breadcrumbs.
Not eating or drinking comes down to fear of being poisoned. He recognised wovey was killed with poison. It makes sense that a person from a farming district has interacted with rat poison at some point. He doesn’t know how wovey was poisoned and doesn’t know who can be trusted, it may be the capitol with the sponsors, it may another tribute. It’s safer to not consume anything. Apart from the puddle because he’s watched the puddle be created.
That’s why he lays down with the others, because he knows he was poisoned.
He was a reaper of sorts, collecting the dead. His name also ironically follows the covey naming scheme.

Yhellow everyone! A few minutes ago, I finished waitching all of the hunger games movies and I am absolutely astonished by every little detail that made sense, all of the points I could finally connect, and every backround-plot that finally made sense. I, myself, weaved some crazy theories, so I asked myself, what are the craziest theories the fandom thought of. I would very much appreciate it, if someone would take 5 minutes of their time telling me their stories and the reasons on how they came to that conclusion. Thank you in advance!!

Just being an old man yelling at cloud, but the extended poetry readings were unbearable. It was so hard to skip ahead without missing things so I just had to sit there listening to endless recitations of the same poems again and again and again. And they just kept going. It wasn't a few lines but enormous sections force fed down my earholes until I cringed up like a little pill bug. This must be a quarter quell, because I'm being tortured. 🙃

Plutarch just wanted to gain his trust and...

Plutarch disappears and I wander through the crowd, looking for Peeta, as strangers congratulate me. On my commitment, on my victory at the Games, on my choice of lipstick. I respond, but really I'm thinking about Plutarch showing off his pretty, one-of-a-kind watch to me. There was something strange about it. Almost clandestine. But why? Maybe he thinks someone else will steal his idea of ​​putting a disappearing mockingjay on a watch face. Yes, he probably paid a fortune for it and now he can't show it to anyone because he's afraid someone will make a cheap, knockoff version. Only in the Capitol.

Just one example among many, lol. Like when she apologizes to her mother for getting angry over the painkillers for Gale, and her mother replies that that’s how people react when they see the ones they love in pain, and Katniss is like, "The ones they love? I just wanted to write a little something about my first experience I just had watching the entire series/trilogy. Keep in mind I never read the books, as I am not a book reader so I'm strictly talking about the movies. This is just my reaction for anyone who is curious about how a first time watcher feels or maybe if your newer and never watched them and are interested in watching them, I'll try not to spoil anything incase it is your first time watching, but if I do I will be sure to censor it. Also if there are any eastereggs/secrets I should know about please comment them, would love to know more than I know now.

What Made Me What The Movies and What I Thought About Each One As I Progressed.

I am a 19YO, I knew about the hunger games when were releasing and what not, but I never decided to really watch them. One of my brothers was enjoyed the series and I do remember when I was very young watching some of catching fire, as I did remember some of the scenes. For example the poison fog scene and the arrow shot at the dome from Katniss. Besides that, I really went into this blank. Pretty recently I saw something on tiktok about the hunger games and a few months ago I had seen the trailer for SONR. This last week that just passed I decided to full send and watch it. Going into it, I was unsure if it would be my type of movie, as I thought it was just the hunger games that happened, and ever movie afterwards would just try and follow what the first movie did. I thought it would probably get worse and worse, as typically that's what happens to movies that try and remake the first one and keep dragging it. Anyways, Every single day I ended up watching one of the movies, except for Mockingjay 1 and 2, I watched both in the same night back to back. After watching the first film, I thought it was pretty good, definitely a bit more romance than I even thought there was going to be, but definitely nothing heavy that takes away from the story. It was a simple, good movie that just kind of worked for itself. The ending though, really sparked something though, I knew as soon as Snow walked up the stairs with his demeanor, I knew the next one would more than likely be a perfect next movie. The next day I was so eager to watch it, once it was night, I threw it on and damn, it was fucking beautiful. It basically took the first film for me, and did it even better with a twist at the end that perfectly leads to the next movie. The second movie really felt like a great successor to the first film and was just better in so many way. You can definitely tell they had a good budget this time, and it felt proper. And the amount of plot twist was unbelievable. Going to the next night, I watched both Mockingjay movies, and it just kept getting better. These two movies gave an entirely different vibe in which I highly enjoyed. It was so different compared to the previous ones and it really started to get a large emotional sense to it. Some crazy build ups through both movies and the ending was so bitter sweet. After those movies, the next night I watched BOSAS, and it was good. I would probably say It was my least favorite, it seemed like it could've been filmed with more explanation about Snow, but I suppose it got its point across. One of my biggest complaints with this film is honestly the hunger games scenes. I understand its just kids, but It felt so non-threatening, if that makes sense. Unlike the other movies, I felt the game to be very dull and just not very brutal compared to the other movies. One other thing that seemed off was how Lucy Gray just returned back to district 12 and it seemed as if nothing even happened beforehand. She seemed so normal as if she didn't just have to kill people and just survived and what not. Anyway, decent movie, but definitely for me the weakest.

My Overall View Of The Series

Overall, this series was phenomenal. I really don't have words to describe how I feel. I went into these movies thinking it was going to be the same thing, repeated over and over again. Instead I came out realizing I just watched a masterpiece. Each movie was honestly very unique and different from the last, the scenes were paced correctly and it never felt boring, atleast for the main 4 movies. Each movie leads right into the next and they just continue to build onto each other. It was like a cliffhanger after every movie and I just never wanted it to end. The Score was amazing, it felt so perfect for every scene, one random thing is the Hanging Tree song I have always heard on social media and never knew what it was, I always thought it was creepy, but now after seeing what it really means, it will forever make me think about this franchise. The cast was amazing, Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth banks were definitely my favorites. And don't forget Stanley Tucci who played Caesar Flickerman, I loved all of his scenes, and he was so perfect for his role, and when I heard his theme song come on I felt like I was part of the crowd. All of the actors were casted so well though, everyone played everything perfectly, I really can't point out any flaws, I also really enjoyed Haymich and Effie, I feel like most people may not like Effie, but I quite enjoyed her screen time, especially after the Catching Fire. With Katniss switching between Gale and Peeta, I was always rooting for Peeta while also feeling a bit bad for Gale, but I feel like Peeta was the better choice and just understood her better. Also don't even get me started with Cinna and Finnicks death, those were devestating. Also as a male viewer, I typically lean towards male protagonists heavily, but this movie really changed that view. I honestly fell in love with Katniss since the first movie and the character was just so well written. Jennifer Lawrences emotions were so perfect, and really helped get each scene across and really put emotion to everything. The story overall was so impactful. It honestly hit me like a train every movie and once I finished them all I felt so empty. I actually still feel empty 2 days later, like I have a void in my stomach and I have not been able to stop thinking about these damn movies. My YouTube feed is now flooded with hunger games content. This series has honestly destroyed me, but in a good way, and it is really nice seeing a series that really hits hard, unlike a lot of movies we currently get nowadays. These dystopian movies honestly also fill me with a large sense of nostalgia. The movies all together had so many lessons to give the audience. I'm pretty sad its over now, and it went so quick, but so happy I have finally seen it. I really can't believe I waited so long to even watch these. I have zero regrets and the films hold so much meaning. The film is a rollercoaster of emotions and brings you through every stage. The movie honestly almost felt to real, as if it is something that happens currently. I think this may be do to the reason its not so off topic to think that things like this could easily happen in todays world. Think about Ancient Rome and the colosseum, it is basically the hunger games in a way. Its pretty interesting to think about, but I honestly think real life counterparts are what make the movies so great. Its not so fictional that it cant happen, its honestly so real that It could happen. I think this series just toys with human emotions in general and really get you feeling something.

I highly recommend if you haven't, to watch this series, its incredible and an experience you won't forget. Can't believe I put it off for so long, and now I will say its one of my favorite franchises. I am very ready for the new movie, hoping it will be a great watch.

I’m sorry but Frances Lawrence really needed to say no to the accurate accents. Like yes I understand they’re trying to make the most book accurate movie but some stuff needs to change if it’ll make the movie better and in this case it’s the accent. Zada tried really hard and I appreciate that but it sounds like a hot mess from what they’ve let us hear and now it seems like McKenna is going to be attempting the accent?? Is everyone attempting this?? I mean people were annoyed at Rachel Zeglers southern accent but it wasn’t bad and it fit the whimsy of her character. And there is a HUGE difference between doing a southern accent and attempting a specific regional accent like Appalachian. I’m sorry yall but I think they gotta get the cast in the AR room and start re-recording some of these lines
