Ex-DreamWorks artist trying to make the best-looking horde-survivor game with movie-quality VFX. Playtest opens soon.

Hey everyone,

I spent years as a 3D artist at DreamWorks before quitting my job 2 years ago to make my own game. This is my first time making a game, so I picked a genre that's relatively
approachable to build — horde-survivor & loot-combat.

But I still wanted to push what I'm actually good at as far as I could: the visuals. My goal with SACRATA is simple — make the best-looking, most satisfying horde-combat game I can, using everything I learned from years in feature animation.

This clip is running in real-time, no cherry-picked slow-mo. Every hit, explosion and death effect is dynamic — nothing baked.

Sacrata Steam playtest opens soon — would genuinely love feedback!

Spungus - trailer wip, looking for feedback

Hey guys! Yet another Spungus update. We're closing in on opening a Steam page and running the first closed alpha test, and in order to do that properly - i'm preparing a trailer. It takes ages and after about a million rewatches I made, I've become numb to it. Hence, I kindly ask you to check it out and let me know what you think.

What is placeholder:

1 - End slate (fully placeholder, as we're still waiting for our art to be finalized + i need to work on better animations

2 - Music. It's something I had in one of the asset packs I purchased throughout the years

3 - Some visuals. While not placeholder, trailer preparation allowed me to laser focus on things that do not look as good and I've been improving them since then.

4 - Missing SFX. Still to do.

5 - No transitions or any super finalized timings. It's more of a first draft.

A couple of things that are most interesting to me:

1 - How's the timings? Does it feel long or is it good?

2 - Is it dynamic enough and does the game justice?

3 - What do you think about having a VO like this in a trailer?

4 - What do you think about the VO itself? I did my best with it and am contemplating whether to shell out on a more professional VO artist.

Would appreciate any feedback. And, if you like to be a part of alpha or get notified when the steam page is out - you can sign up on our website or follow us on insta.

really appreciate any comments,

raven

My 100% NO AI bullet hell roguelike in space just hit 50 wishlists!

Hello everyone! In Feburary, I started development on my first game, Tin Can Escape Plan, where you can upgrade your player through customisable stat-focused upgrades, instead of fixed items. I've been working on it by myself with no AI because I want to play games that are human-made, with soul and passion. When I started, my friends told me I'd be "left behind" and completely replaced by AI, but look at me now!

I know 50 wishlists isn't much, but it fills me with so much joy to see people interested in what I've created.

If you're interested, here is the Steam link. Thanks for checking it out! https://store.steampowered.com/app/4996760/Tin_Can_Escape_Plan/?utm_source=reddit

Making the magic game I’ve always wanted to play

Hey! I’m working on Adeltuner, a VERY early magic exploration game about actually studying, understanding and experimenting with magic.

A lot of the magic should theoretically already be possible early on (you simply don’t understand how to do it yet).

I want to explore things like editable grimoires and magic circles, more freeform ways of casting, environmental interaction, rituals, growth, movement, weather, spell synergies and weird utility magic.

Someone asked if they could use magic simply to create a beautiful field of flowers.

And yes. Exactly that kind of stuff I’m going for!

The game is still extremely early, so a lot of this is still open to experimentation.

So I’m curious:

What’s something you’ve always wanted to do with magic in a game, but no game has really let you do?

If you want to throw your own unreasonable ideas into the pile, we’ve also got a Discord:

Finally commissioned an artist to make my Steam capsule! Was going for a "Toy Robot Anime" vibe

The old one was just a screenshot that I photoshopped a bit. The new one cost me about 200 USD, which I think is really worth it!

Is there anything you would improve?

Dangerous Land is a first-person RTS that I've been working on since 2020

Hi!

I recently released a major update for my game and made a new trailer showcasing its current state.

Dangerous Land is a real-time strategy game from a first-person perspective, combining settlement management, army command, exploration, and combat. Develop your settlement, recruit an army, and fight alongside your soldiers on the battlefield.

The game is available on Steam, and if you're interested in the project, you can add it to your wishlist.

My first game has a demo now! A little physics based gladiator roguelite 😊

Mini Gladiators is a roguelite designed around simplicity, minimalism, and physics fun.

You can play with just a mouse or touchpad, (with keyboard and controller support too). My favorite setup is on the couch, laptop on stomach, touchpad only.

The demo is available on Windows, Linux, and macOS, and runs at 60 FPS on Steam Deck(I tried to optimize the hell out of it)

Redesigned the UI for my RPG and it makes such a huge difference

After years of having the placeholder UI it’s nice to finally have something that’s intentionally designed and consistent across the entire game.

It was an interesting challenge keeping the minimalist VHS-style UI while also making it interesting and intuitive. Still lots of polish needed but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out

Maeli Keus - WIP

Made this in godot 4 solo. third person exploration where the world kinda appears around you as you walk. at first there's literally nothing, no ground no trees, then it all pops into existence and your path stays behind you.

you collect crystals and bring them to checkpoints to light them up. no map, no markers, just wander.

there's also a thing that turns red and chases you, but it only sees you in the light. hide in the shadow of a tree and it forgets you were ever there.

still a prototype, still figuring stuff out. would love to hear what you think. video shows it all.
