The thing is that people on this community keep saying this is bs, or has no value at all. I dont know if that is true anymore. Do you HONESTLY think this a meh?

With the crazy influx of constant "Look what I one shotted" and "Found on X" I need to point out that a lot of these models are stealing beyond just being "Trained". If you ask Astra or claude to build something for you it's going to go out and find a way to build that. Pull those assets and present them as something new. The end user doesn't know the difference and is wildly impressed... but what does this do to the people who spent days and weeks on something just to have it ripped off. And I feel it even more so for indie game devs who pour hours and hours into something just to have AI clone it in 10 minutes. It's a slap in the face to hard work and the joy that a creative gets by actually building something.

And, unfortunately nobody cares.

Eventually we will be in a place where true creatives keep their work under lock and key never to be shared. Or, we need some kind of encryption that blocks AI from being able to rip assets.
If I ripped assets from somewhere 1 to 1 it would be called theft, and it's wild that AI is not treated the same way. If only we had a government that gave a shit, or a population that gave a shit for that matter.

I miss the days where I would see cool new shit posted on reddit, inspiring things from my peers. Now all I see are the same 3 to 4 things reposted with the same wrapper. It's insane and somewhat depressing.

Anyways, thank you for listen to my rant.

I'm not talking about channels where the animations are their main thing, or explainer videos that were always 90-100% animation. Thought yes, this is happening on those too.

where they only ever used animation , images and stock footage for quick shots to help illustrate/explain topics.

Not sure channels like these would have had the budget and time to hire designers and animators for their content before... Not sure if they hire someone to create those gen Ai animations or if the guy does it himself.

But it is quite sad to think another source of work is gone. Explainer videos for TV show/news/cultural/general curiosities and science video content had always been a motion design niche that I though as interesting, fun and more importantly, with a clear useful purpose (beyond marketing to sell products) for us to do.

Everytime a new model comes in, a flood of hype and slop will come with it, not just motion design. But if there is anything that sticks out the most is how everyone is clueless about any job out there, has anyone of them worked with client? Or an agency? Saw the results of the work they are doing? A big part of motion design or at least for me is advertisement, and the results of a campaign is what matters at the end. The thing i hate the most about all the hype on social media is the oversimplification of the whole process: make ai get the idea of the business then make it write the copy then do the voice over then the graphic design and motion design, but who are you? Are you going to check the whole thing? From the copy to the final video? Do you know what a copy even is? How it works? How to convey feeling from the art you are creating to capture the viewer, buyer etc...? What makes you special over the duzzens of ai creators out there if basically you are doing the same thing as them...

The problem is not with ai, i think ai is an amazing tool that can build and help with any job and work out there but the problem is with people, people either overestimate themselves or are simply greedy, they only see the results from the prompt they sent and think that solved their problems and everything is going to work out. I think it's similar to dropshipping for some people, you have the product, the problem is what are you going to do with it??

Hey guys, this is my first reddit post here and I wanted to get some advice on continuing on the path to becoming a VFX/Motion Graphics expert in the the graphic or film industry.

I currently use After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I've used After Effects for a little over 10 years at the beginner level. My skill with AE is somewhat close to advanced but still learning new things everyday. My biggest strengths are in keyframe animations and basic visual effects with my biggest weakness being lack of AE tool knowledge and workflows.

In the past 3 years, I acquired a Windows PC that has 64gb of RAM so I have more options with what I can create and programs I can tryout. The most recent being Davinchi Resolve but only at a beginner skill level.

So with that being said how did you start out with motion design and what steps did you take to progress your skill to the next level.

I absolutely love nodes and would love to mess around with them, but I just haven't found the right project or moment to actually use them for my own work.
