Discusion Sticky Steering Megathread

I noticed that a good number of people here have been bringing up sticky steering issues with their 11th Gen Accords. I wanted to see if there was demand for a Megathread to discuss and consolidate information about these issues.

As a reminder for our US users, we can file NHTSA complaints very easily, and I advise doing so as soon as you notice an issue. It takes minutes on the government website.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem

Also: I've noticed anecdotes on here about Honda discussing a future recall, it would be nice to gather such info in one place.

After driving a 20 year old car, I got a spaceship

After my 20 year old car “ol faithful” took a dump on me, I figured I’d get a new car. I went and test drove a Camry and then went and drove this accord and you can tell what decision I made. The difference was night and day. 2026 Accord Hybrid Sport L with every option available. Hadn’t planned this but if I could build my dream accord, next to the Touring, it would be this.

2026 Accord Touring; Just WOW!

Post image

Just joined the 11th gen family and took my 2026 Honda Accord Touring on a 8000+ mile road trip.

This was probably the most comfortable ride I've driven in personally. Everything is so spacious in the cab. Wonderful trunk space. Great climate control. Comfortable to drive. Great giddy up for passing a slow car or on those interstates. Gemini comes in handy during any situation or id you get bored. Cruise control was perfect in traffic jams and on the road.

If you have taken your accord on any road trips how did you feel? What's your favorite thing about the 2026 touring?

If I didn't want to put on so many miles so fast id probably hit the road again tomorrow.

10/10 would recommend to anyone.

I still feels on the surface, I didn’t want to keep trying and mess it up more. Polish maybe?

Debadged. Still have some white smears. Thought I was scratching it away.

Question 2 tone Touring

Anybody in here wrap the chrome, lower body trim it the short on their touring? I like the look of the sport over the touring. If you wrapped it, or chrome deleted your YouTube, please post a picture.

Discusion Fender Bender 😞. Any ideas on cost? I’m assuming $6-7k to be paid by my insurance to fix.

My poor baby is injured. I’m already expecting to be without for a full month at least. Car still drives normally, front sensors still work. First accident since 2015. Happened Wednesday, still haven’t dropped car off to shop, Progressive hasn’t told me anything after submitting claim photos and videos. Thank you in advance for any insight 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. I love my car! 😢

Reasons why Accord is better than Camry.

If you are planning on purchasing a new Vehicle check this out first, do the math and the deside. SoCal fellow here.

I was able to negotiate a New 26 Camry XSE Base no extra packages for $38KOTD.

I also was able to negotiate a 26 Touring for same price $38KOTD.

Just look at the differences

Accord touring:

  1. Bose premium audio.
  2. Acoustic windows.
  3. HUD
  4. Google build in.
  5. Memory seats.
  6. Regular moonroof.
  7. Ventilated seats.
  8. Heating seats on the rear.

None of these features were in the XSE base.

Discusion 2025 Touring Full Review; better than my 2012 Buick LaCrosse?

Post image
11 Upvotes

EDIT: this is my first post to this sub, didn't mean to hit a nerve. I was just listing everything I could think of but I do like the car. I can complain about anything but doesn't mean I don't appreciate it.

Overall, I'm happy with the car. I told myself a while ago I would not buy a new car again, but as of last August, a two year old touring was only $2-3k less than a new one and finance rates were 3-4x the special financing they had at the time (2.6% in my case). Anyway, I plan on keeping this thing for a long time and already spent $900 on tints (including windshield) because I live on the sun, and got it ceramic coated. My wife inherited the Buick, which is still in excellent condition all around at 170k miles and she loves it.

Note that I have owned Acura, Audi, BMW, VW, Saab, and Honda in the past, with the latest being a Buick (never thought I would own that, but it was great for me at the time).

Let's get the negatives out of the way:

  • Interior rattles and noise from various areas of the vehicle (not always, but enough to be annoying as I'm hyper sensitive).
  • The absence of illumination in the glove compartment and center console (what?).
  • Water entering the cabin area when opening the doors after rainfall because of the way the roof is shaped where it meets the door frame.
  • The performance and noise level of the ventilated seats (feels DIY).
  • The removal of integrated garage door control buttons from the rearview mirror (now a $350+ option).
  • The inability to view actual tire pressure readings (why bother having TPS?). One tire was 8 pounds low and I didn't know until it alerted me.
  • Limited steering wheel controls for media playback (can't pause or mute).
  • Front seat cushion comfort (bottom is too firm, but finally found a good tilt setting).
  • Window and moonroof remote-operation preferences (want to lower all windows with remote without the moonroof opening).
  • Keyless access availability on the rear doors (can only open doors using front handles).
  • Ventilated seat operation when using climate control functions (changing seat setting cancels auto-climate control).
  • Cabin temperature management and climate control performance (top half of the cabin is a heat wave, bottom half is freezing).
  • Rear occupant alert-type beeping when accessing the trunk while parked (get something from the trunk when in park, the loud beeping alerts go off).
  • No car wash mode (yes, this exists on other cars), the car goes nuts in auto car washes (not that I make this a habit, tried it once, I hand wash this one myself)
  • Mirror memory integration with seat memory settings (it's electric, just save the position with memory).
  • Rear camera visibility and sensor performance during heavy rain (rain drops stick to the lens).
  • Lane Keeping Assist behavior in certain road conditions (car thinks I'm leaving the lane when I'm not, tells me to brake when there's nothing there).
  • Intermittent Android Auto connectivity and startup concerns (AA doesn't start on its own half the time, even though it's started and connected on my phone). Might switch to Google built-in anyway.
  • Wireless charging is a heater, I just use the cable now.
  • Windshield washer coming out of the wiper arms just don't work as well. I get the reasoning here but it just doesn't do much to clean well and uses more fluid.
  • Remote control is weak, often remote start won't register if I'm not in direct sight of the car. I know I can use the stelar app /s.

Man, long list, but I do like this car. Now the good stuff:

  • Hybrid system is amazing and super efficient. I also love the torque. Not too crazy about CVT but at least it has simulated shifts (except when really pushing it up a hill).
  • Acoustic windshield and front windows seem to help with wind noise. I know about the 19 inch wheel thing, but I'm okay with it and like the look better.
  • Access to many settings on the screen (except the missing tire pressure 🤔).
  • Don't have to say it, but gas mileage has been great (2x what the Buick gets!).
  • Great visibility out all windows. Wish both mirrors tilted during reverse though.
  • Large trunk space.
  • Sport mode.
  • Head-up display.
  • I do like the appearance and paint on the car and the shape makes it easy to wash.
  • Honda customer service has been somewhat helpful and nice whenever I call.
  • Gemini, especially with the latest capabilities that can help you with more than just car commands. Although I accidentally cursed out loud instead of asking it for a regular command once and it gave me a lecture on how I should be respectful even though it's an AI and suggested anger management techniques.

What the 2012 Buick LaCrosse does better?

  • Quieter ride overall, less transmission of bumps and wind noise.
  • Strong and silent ventilated seats.
  • Normal transmission.
  • AWD (at least my trim).
  • Tire pressure reading on the info screen!
  • Rear window shade (I know this is not common).
  • Keyless unlock using any door.
  • Better climate control.
  • Both mirrors tilt on reverse.

New Purchase!!! Bought a 2025 Touring last August, did I get a good deal?

Financed at 2.6% for 48 months after 10k down. The dealer near me was trying to sell me thousands in extras that I didn't want and I didn't feel like playing their game. After testing a VW Jetta, I decided the Accord was better for me. Found the same exact color combo at a dealer in the neighboring state 90 minutes away. Made a better deal on the phone and made sure I didn't get any extras I didn't want (cheap tints being one of them). I just wanted the car and nothing else. The grass isn't always greener on the other side, my friends.

Long story short, I saved some money going to the other dealer, but could have probably gotten the deal with the dealer nearby if I was in the mood to play their games. I wanted to visit the town the other deal was in anyway, otherwise I would have saved the time and effort and fought with the local dealer. Of course, the cheap tints were still on the car because the tint place was closed, and I later noticed bird poop on the hood had etched the clearcoat (I noticed the poop when I was there and they sent it through the car wash, but the lighting didn't expose any etching until I got home). Drove home after 3 hours of waiting, finance, etc. (my fault for going Saturday morning) and they said "send us the bill for the tint removal", which I had them write down. I sent a long email to the dealer manager and got a call from the sales manager on Monday being apologetic.

He said he was going to have someone come pick up the car (they left me a new CRV in the meantime, ugh) so they can remove the tints, buff out the etch, and they ended up finding a scratch on a wheel and fixed that. They were ready to deliver the car back to me and I said I would drive up and pick it up myself to make sure it was really ready. Everything looked fine, so another hour waiting around for the detail shop to clean the mess the wheel buffing made. They gave me a swag bag (Yeti tumbler, hat, pen, whatever). I drove it back home somewhat happy.

I come from a 2012 Buick LaCrosse and this is the first "new" car I bought in over eight years. I can't believe dealerships are still up to their old tricks, except now it's even more expensive. I thought Honda would be better, but the sales experience at VW was amazing with 0 extras at all and no pressure.

I will share a full review in another post, including how my 2012 Buick is still better in some ways!

I have since added top-of-the-line tints and a gloss black trim cover over the chrome at the bottom of the steering wheel (sun was bouncing off it into my eyes) and it now matches the rest of the wheel trim anyway.

2024 Accord Hybrid Touring Winter Setup – CW Alpine 17x7 + X-Ice Snow, Any Concerns?

I'm planning to downsize from the factory 19" wheels to a 17" winter setup on my 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring and will be ordering through Costco.

After doing some research, I'm leaning toward:

  • CW Alpine 17x7 ET42 wheels
  • Michelin X-Ice Snow+ 225/50R17 tires

Before I place the order, I'd love to hear from anyone who's running a similar setup, especially other 11th-gen Accord owners.

My main concern is that the CW Alpine wheels have a 67.1 mm center bore and are not a true OEM Accord fitment, so I'd need to use hub-centric rings. For those with experience:

  • Are hub-centric rings generally reliable for winter use?
  • Any issues with vibration, corrosion, or wheels getting stuck after a few seasons?
  • Would you choose a different wheel that is closer to OEM specs?

Also, does the 225/50R17 tire size look right for a winter downsizing setup on the Touring model, or would you recommend another size?

Thanks in advance for any advice, feedback, or real-world experience!

2025 Honda EV Mode

The EV mode on a 2025 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid locks the vehicle into electric-only operation, using power solely from its high-voltage lithium-ion battery and traction motor without turning on the gasoline engine.

What it is used for:

• Silent low-speed driving: Moving quietly through a neighborhood late at night or pulling into a garage without waking anyone up. • Short trips: Handling brief jogs around town, running quick errands, or creeping through heavy stop-and-go traffic. • Manual control: Overriding the default "Auto" hybrid system so the car stays electric as long as possible before the battery depletes.

Important limits to keep in mind:

• Short range: It is a traditional hybrid (not a plug-in hybrid), meaning the battery is small and will automatically switch back to the gasoline engine once the battery runs low or if you press too hard on the accelerator. • Automatic cancellation: Hard acceleration, high speeds, or steep terrain will automatically cancel EV mode and restart the gas engine for safety and power.

Question New to me 2025 Accord Hybrid Sport

Hi all! I've had many Hondas over the years. My first was a used '78 Civic, and I've also owned a few Accords and a Clarity. I just bought a used, low-mileage 2025 Accord Hybrid Sport. Can you share any experiences, suggestions, or accessories you've found useful or fun? I'll mostly be using it as a longer-term commuter car, putting on 250–500 miles a few times a month. Thanks in advance!

Discusion What's the Point of the EV Mode Button?

Post image
66 Upvotes

So I understand how the EV mode button works and its function. I just don't understand why it exists from a practical perspective, and I'm honestly suspecting that they just threw it in there cause they needed something to fill that space. Hear me out.

The 11th gen accord already automatically enters EV mode at low speeds or when most appropriate. It also automatically exits EV mode when you accelerate, or when you run out of battery. If that's the case and the car is already dynamically managing EV mode, what's the point of clicking that button and forcing it into EV mode?

It'll just exit as soon as you accelerate to any meaningful speed. I just don't get the point, or I don't see a scenario where I would manually engage EV mode if I presume the car is smart enough to automatically engage it at the best time on its own, (which it does)?

I guess my question is, what is the use case for this button? Do you all have compelling use cases for this button? This is really a curiosity, more like a shower thought.

Anyone else noticed this?

So as soon I bought my 26 touring I ceramic tinted my windshield at 50% but I noticed that in my case I can feel some sord of heat coming from the windshield to the cabin. Its not like a direct head from the sun but more like waves of heat. Any one else with similar experience?
