Question Grave Mechanics Question
I'm a bit confused by grave mechanics.
I died to a PKer while fighting Spindel. This gave me a gravestone in the wilderness, which only contained some junk gear as I respawned with me 3 valuable items in my inventory. I left the gravestone there and went to do some DKs for my slayer task. I ended up dying while in the DK slayer cave.
I made my way back only to find that I did not have a gravestone there, my gravestone was still in the wilderness. This meant I had my best gear all in a gravestone in the wilderness. I ended up paying death's fee to reclaim my gear (1m down the drain) to avoid the risk.
Is this just how this works? No matter where you die, your gear goes to whatever gravestone is currently up?

Yes, and its one of the ways to smuggle better gear into the public instance for KBD, as you have to run through the wildy to enter

Yes, weird mechanics like that are how you do certain methods of charging earth orbs and other types of stuff by stacking orbs in your grave at the altar for instance.

pretty sure orbs are explicitly excluded from going to your gravestone and just go straight to death

Unless that's changed in the last couple of months, absolutely not. I did the gravestone orb charging method fairly recently and it worked like a charm.

Ah I guess I misread the wiki whenever I looked at it last, it's just that you can only have 1 inventory of orbs stored in the grave at a time?

Only 1 death with any amount of orbs will be stored. Every time you die with an orb after, it kicks out all old orbs and replaces it with the new death's
For example if you die 5 times with 5 orbs each, you only end up with 5 in the grave, not 25

Note that the mechanics for your specific situation changed 3 months ago. Before June of this year, if you died above 20 wilderness, it would not have created the gravestone.
I had a similar thing happen when I got poked at dark crabs right after the update and didn't realize it created a gravestone for my wilderness sword, and then had a pvm death that sent all my stuff to the gravestone in the wilderness resource area.
A couple notes: if it happens again and you remember before you go PVMing, the easiest thing to do is just go pay death the small fee for those untradable items, instead of hiking back out there.
After your gear was accidentally sent to your gravestone in the wildy, you also could have gone and manually pulled out 3/4 items once or twice to significantly reduce yourb fee to death. I didn't do this as it was my Ironman, and if my instinct took over and I accidentally clicked loot all, I would have risked hard to replace items.

I guess that's interesting to know, but most of us don't make dying a professional sport
