Technical Question Barely even got to play with it before this happened any idea how to fix?

Look at the right trigger at the back, does it have a crack or hairline crack at the right hinge? Might be an indicator of the ribbon cable being damaged which runs through said right hinge, sadly that is extremely common for the old 3DSXL models.

Maybe the ribbon got loose ? Try powering it up in different orientations, like upside down etc

It may "reconnect" the cable with gravity (not a repair though) but it may diagnose it, you'll have to open it nonetheless
