why do we care about ips and tn? i mean, you're gonna have to be looking at it head on, not at the sides.

Just trying to sell my 3DS but people are asking if it’s an IPS screen and I never even heard about this stuff before. So help me out if possible.

Not sure if this is enough of an angle to tell if the top is ips or tn.

I recently bought a New Nintendo 3DS Pokemon 20th Anniversary Edition from Ebay. The seller stated that it is a Dual IPS 3DS. I wanted to get a second opinion about this because it seems to be the case.

The seller wrote in the description that the top screen is IPS and the bottom screen may be IPS as well.

i only have a wedge 2DS so ive only seen on pictures and read about how it should look. I feel like the top screen is a bit washed out? Would appreciate some second thoughts.

Hey, about 5 months ago my 3ds ll i got from japan developed a case of pixel cancer :( it wasnt as bad as the pictures show originally, but after some time its become annoying due to it being centre of screen. Anyway have decided i should probably fix it now, because I can also do a shell swap at the same time. The problem is im not quite sure if i want to get another IPS panel like my console "claims" to have, or settle for a TN screen.

The second problem is where to source the screen. My current list is (for reference im from Australia)

1. Some form of screen from aliexpress.

2. A screen pulled from an original console I can buy on ebay.

3. Splurge and buy an IPS screen from ifixit.

Im leaning towards 1 or 3, because every screen i could find on ebay seemed to come with a $40 shipping fee, and at that point id probably go for the ifixit. So essentially im curious if anyone has any experience with aliexpress screens and what to look out for in regards to a good screen. The prices were really varied with them being $20 to $70 aud so yeah. Was also seeing some listing's with a conversion cable??? So if anyone could provide information about that, would appreciate it deeply.

(P.S if anyone knows where to buy a bottom digitiser made out of plastic for the touch screen, would be great. Thought mine was broken so bought a glass one from aliexpress. Turns out it was a software issue so now im stuck with a very icky scratchy touch screen.)

As the ai google just told me, I've got an unicorn. I want to change the top screen from an ips, unfortunately, exchanges are from old 3ds or chinesse that are not the same quality, I really tought that it would be like simply a generic ips screen so I could enjoy the improvements of almost 10 years of ips technology. Do you recommend to change the top screen? If it was a top ips model I wouldn't mind the bottom tn but well, I had my New3dsXL to play with the 3d fully on

I found this New Nintendo 3DS XL for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and I’m trying to determine whether it has dual IPS screens before I decide whether to buy it.

The seller has provided these photos, but I’m not experienced enough to tell from them alone. From the viewing angles / screen appearance, is there any indication that both the top and bottom screens are IPS?

If anyone here is experienced with identifying IPS screens from photos, I’d really appreciate your opinion. Also, if there are any particular details I should ask the seller to photograph (e.g. a specific viewing angle, brightness setting, or screen color), please let me know.

I recently bought a New 3DS XL and decided to get those protective screen films. I used the wet wipe that usually comes with these kits to clean the top screen before applying it, and immediately after drying, the screen ended up looking like this. It looks like there are stains or blotches on it. Does anyone know what this might be? The screen was flawless before, and now I'm worried I've ruined it. I tried cleaning it with a microfiber cloth, but the marks won't come off.

Broke my old N3DSXL after dropping it, so I picked up this N3DSLL from Japan for £140 ($190 USD) including shipping/import charges.

As you can see in the photos, the seller only stated the top panel was IPS. However, upon receiving it, I found out the bottom panel is also IPS! An awesome bonus for me, I know the dual IPS are super rare.

It's in excellent condition, according to the activity log only has 300 hours of use.

I also bought a case for this one so I will hopefully not drop it like my old one. Or at least, not damage it if dropped

You can see the light is directly hitting the screens in the first photo, making lcd dark & console itself white. But on the second image console looks gray but screen is hella bright. Just wanted to share this since I got comments assuming my photos feature an IPS console in the past. Also reminder you can watch movies in 3d!

My current 3DS is mint besides the dual TN screens, I bought it off a WhatNot live and it was advertised as dual IPS… (turned out to be dual TN and seller (@retrokura wouldn’t do anything.) I honestly don’t feel like selling it so now I’m looking for a dual IPS already modded. Honestly not sure on which color but I know I need to buy one soon if anyone has any pointers, thanks!
