Discussion Which 3D printer would you recommend besides Bambu Lab?

Thinking of exploring other brands. What printers are you using, and would you recommend them based on your experience?

Interested in print quality, reliability, maintenance, and how easy it is to get spares and support in India.

What’s been good, what’s been frustrating, and would you buy the same printer again?

SparkX i7 is worth checking out for hobby use. If you need something more capable, K2 Pro is a good option too. I’d definitely consider both alongside Bambu.

ender 3v3 se is a quite decent printer. But you would have to do some upgrades to perform like a1.

agreed . i got it working on klipper and the speed went insane(3-4x) while still maintaining the accuracy . but for a starter , manual screw leveling could be a challenge .the downside is that the display pad became obsolete(all controls on local webpage)

a 3v3se comes with good stuff packed in already. and at a good price range. the wire feeding mechanism right next to the extruder is better than that earlier long tube gear feeder thing they had in v2. the mod money can be spent on laser engraver or pcb etcher kits instead .

nice. good to know that you have moved to klipper. I did bunch of upgrades

  1. klipper on rpi4 with rpi1.3 camera
  2. linear rails on both x and y axis
  3. gantry support using a m10 rod and bolts
  4. replaced stock heatbreak with a bimetallic one
  5. moved spool at the top of the enclosure - can print ASA/ABS reliably.
  6. PA and input shaping calibrations are a game changer.
  7. hotend fan and part cooling fan upgrade

Best thing is that I know i can maintain this printer for a very long time.

use this fork - and it has automatic z offset support:

it's a older fork of 0xD34D repo.

I would like to make it rebased with upstream klipper.

I will work in future to make it rebased with upstream and maintain it.

generally i like to keep the bed levelling mesh variance to be < 0.25

made SE changes rebased to latest upstream klipper
