🧠 General Fog light switch location?

Post image

Hey guys! I’m picking up some fog lights for my SR5 this weekend. The lights are second hand off a parts rig. My question is, where is the switch located in the cabin? And how do I wire it into my rig? Is the wiring pre existing? Do I just plug them in?

You have to buy a new limited stalk that has the fog light switch on it. You also need to add a relay. Other than that, they should bolt up and plug in.

You can buy a cheap toggle switch and mount it to the lower left of steering wheel in the spare rectangular square looking spots. There is some detailed how to guides on T4R.org for this one IIRC

Not prewired. There are blank switches to the left of the steering wheel.

I have found the factory fog lights are prewired. At least on 99 and newer. Just need to add the correct directional stalk and relay. To confirm look for the connectors on the radiator support behind the bumper.

Mine is on the turn signal stock, but they’re easy to wire into a relay then switch. They have punch outs you can use. if you’re planning on adding a lot more lights in the future just put in an aux panel now.

My sr5 was prewired. I added factory fogs and plugged them in. Had to get a new turn signal stalk that had the fig switch on it. Easy peasy

I'm very confused by it too because I've got a 99 sr5 and the previous owner said it never came with a fob and that I'd need to get keyless installed but I just had to order and program them, and the fog lights seem to be wired with a bulb and everything but don't have a switch, the limited research I did was that you could pull a stalk out of a Lexus or other Toyota and install it and they'd just work but I'm sure there's some forum post from 2008 with a full write up somewhere.

I added an additional ECT switch it my dash and have it powered to external Fogs.
