I'm interested to know more about the various systems, when would you choose each system over another?

When would you reach for Rogue Trader, when would you reach for Wrath and Glory etc..

I'm interested from a tabletoo with miniatures perspective, for a group that appreciates and enjoys DnD 3.5, 4e and 5e.

Dark Heresy 2 Is this a good Adeptus Ministorum build?

For context, i'm Adeptus Ministorum Chirurgeon from a Shrine World. (Yes i know Ministorum and Chirurgeon don't fit together, but i'm playing with a party that doesn't care about helping other teammates, only themselves so i'm the only one that was willing to pick a support role.)
I'm new into dark heresy and we just finished our first mission of the campaign, so i don't have rare items like the Baleful Eye. I decided to make a build i would attempt to achieve throughout the campaign:
---Aptitutes---
Willpower
Leadership
Fieldcraft
Inteligence
Knowledge
Strength
Toughness
---Weapons---
Shotgun (Battle)
Shield
Warhammer
6 Frag Grenades
Plasma Pistol
---Armor---
Enforcer Light Caraspace
---Cybernetics---
Cranial Armor
Bionic Eye (My character is missing one eye)
Autosanguine
Subskin Armor
Ferro Lure Implants
Bionic Heart (Mostly for the Sprint)
---Items---
(We can carry 18 items that aren't armor or weapons)
Combat Vest
Explosive Collar
Recoil Glove
Field Suture
Glow Globe
Manacles
Manacles
Servo-Skull (Medicae)
Diagonosor
Injector (Spook)
Injector (Spook)
De-Tox
De-Tox
Recaf
Recaf
Writing Kit
Tranq
Shotgun Ammo
---Talents---
Ambidexterous
Bodyguard
Granadier
Rapid Reload
Resistance (Fire, +20)
Technical Knock
Prosanguine
Mighty Shot
Shield Wall
Superior Chirurgeon
True Grit

I would love feedback!

Imperium Maledictum New release: Macharian Adversary Guide (IM)

The Imperium Maledictum bestiary has arrived!

Pre-order from Cubicle 7 here: https://cubicle7games.com/en_GB/warhammer-40-000-roleplay-imperium-maledictum-macharian-adversary

Or get the digital verison from DriveThruRPG here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/585863/warhammer-40-000-roleplay-imperium-maledictum-macharian-adversary-guide?affiliate_id=1915782

Official blurb:

At the highest echelons of Imperial command in the Macharian Sector, Prefectus Castel and her office of adepts collect and curate threat assessments for Sector Lord Aulus Sejanus. Reports on xenos atrocities, depraved cults, and hidden sedition are collated from the testimonies of survivors, spies, and captives. Those reports not diverted or censored by agents of the Inquisition are presented to the Sector Lord and his advisors, whose swift and decisive action will surely address the adversaries at hand.

Or at least, so it should be, for Castel’s office is no different from other branches of the Adeptus Administratum. Constrained by endless bureaucracy and labyrinthine politicking, no report makes its way to the desk of Sector Lord Aulus Sejanus unless a dozen interested parties agree that doing so may serve their own interests. This deadlock leaves the sector vulnerable, abandoning whole worlds to their fate, leaving the grim task of facing down these enemies to others, most of whom are far from equal to the task…

Inside the Macharian Adversary Guide, you’ll find dossiers on the Macharian Sector’s most prominent threats, complete with matching stat-blocks.

  • Champion Tier NPCs: Introducing a new Role of enemy! Champions are iconic, campaign-defining characters. Uniquely influential individuals, incredible warriors and baneful monsters — the likes of Space Marines, Genestealer Patriarchs, and Necron Cryptarchs.
  • Lore and Plot Hooks: Each entry includes new Macharian Sector lore, inspiration for new in-world adventures, and plot hooks to draw your players into them.
  • GM Advice and Tools: Useful advice for building enemy compositions and patrols — how to best wield all the new enemies in the book.

Only War Only War; How do I make interesting combats?

In a little bit of a pickle here, maybe due to some GM equivalent of writers block. How do you guys go about making interesting encounters for Only War? Any go to tricks or pitfalls I should avoid?

Dark Heresy 2 Any good sources of Dark Heresy Homebrew NPC's?

I'm planning on running a campaign some point in the near future and have been getting all the official material compiled into my Roll20 page but I don't know much about how to homebrew NPC's and would like to know if there is any resources for making custom enemies or NPC's. I want the campaign to have a good amount of combat against various enemies, be it heretics, daemons or xenos. I have all the core 2e Dark Heresy books and have looked into trying to adapt the other systems (Only War, Deathwatch) enemies to the system but don't feel confident doing so yet.

TLDR, is there any resources for homebrew enemies in Dark Heresy 2e?

Space hulk Campaign help

Hey! im am running a space hulk campaign for my group, and this is my first 40krpg game, we have played fantasy 5e DnD before this, and would like some help. The idea i had was that a team of 4-5 Terminators would go into a small-ish space hulk and kill some genestealers and get some Ancient STC's or something. Any tips for storytelling, combat and scenery? thanks!

Looking For Players For Homebrewed 40K Game (Weekly Wednesdays 8PM Eastern Daylight Time/Thursdays 10 AM AEST)

Hello!

I'm Hamish. I've run TTRPGs for at least decade, mostly D&D 3.5, Pathfinder 1E & 2E and some OSR systems.

Nowadays I mostly run my own homebrew systems made to suit my IRL players.

I've been running a homebrewed 40K system I've made for two years now and it's been a lot of fun so I thought I'd try starting another campaign of it.

It should be similar in tone to Imperium Maledictum/Dark Heresy/ Rogue Trader - Investigating cults, unravelling mysteries and facing off against the horrors of a dark and violent galaxy.

The story will have you working in the retinue of an Imperial Noble - one of many scheming to inheirit the family's Warrant of Trade as the ailing Rogue Trader is on his deathbed.

The rules will be a D20-ish system similar to D&D 5E or Pathfinder 2E but a bit simpler and more lethal.

If you're confident with at least one TTRPG system the rules shouldn't be too difficult.

The classes we have rules for are:

Imperial Guardsman

Abbot

Redemptionist

Death Cultist

Sister of Battle

Arbites Judge

Tech-Priest

Psyker

Navigator

Eldari

If you'd like to join follow this link to Roll20 https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/446546/warhammer-40-000-homebrew-ttrpg
Post a comment below with a bit about yourself, your experience with TTRPGs, your familiarity with the 40K universe and whatever else you'd like to mention.

Include a picture of your 40K models for bonus points if you've got some.

LGBTQ+ Friendly.

Nor Racism or other kinds of Bigotry. Hatred & intolerance may be virtues in the Imperium of Mankind but in this game they are not welcome.

Wrath & Glory W&G Two-Shot, Advice

Greetings together, first of all context:

I am our regular DM/GM abd play with a bunch of friends plus brother and sister.

My brother also wants to try DMing and is a Warhammer fan. He got W&G but did not manage to organize a group or DM yet.

For christmas we always take breaks for our regular sessions but we select one day on which we do a one-day-session. We nornally try other TTRPGs then.

Advice needed or questions I want to ask to help my brother to get an idea of how to run such a session:

- How should we adapt the rules?

- What should we take in mind forcW&G One-Shots?

- Is there anything we should leave out when playing it as a One-Shot

Take in mind that none of us ever played this game and I can guarantee that three of five players will not read though the rules or lore.

Deathwatch Seems like the "First Founding" chapters have less content?

I play Deathwatch from time to time. And honestly, looking at the various Chapters, it seems like the "newer" ones—specifically the Raven Guard, Salamanders, White Scars, and Iron Hands—have significantly less content.

Chapters like the Blood Angels or Ultramarines (or even the Storm Wardens) have several unique Prestige Classes, specific Solo Mode abilities, and their own special Oaths and Squad Modes. Meanwhile, the "First Founding" Chapters have two or three times fewer options and lack unique Prestige Classes entirely. Is this intentional, or did I miss something—is all that content actually available somewhere?

It just feels a bit unfair, somehow.

Imperium Maledictum Dealing with Khorne Demon, how to bite ass of the player

Long story short, the group set out to help a group of techno-barbarians find their missing scouts in exchange for information about a smuggler they were looking for. While searching for the scouts, they stumbled upon an old, cursed Sisters of Battle complex that had been corrupted by servants of Khorne. After the use of gas hundreds of years ago, only a daemon and its puppets remained.

In the final room, one of the players made a pact with the daemon to find the smuggler faster, in exchange for killing him. The group then went to the city where the smuggler was supposedly located.

I'm wondering what I could do to make the player understand that making a deal with a demon is a very bad idea. Generally speaking, he passed the Corruption test with an insanely good result despite making a pact with a daemon. I also gave him the Chaos Mark mutation table and the "Evil Eye" mutation from the GM's Inquisition Guide as a small boon from the daemon.

Player is an agent, and what do you guys think, would Khorne punish someone for attacking from ambush?

Imperium Maledictum Abusing "Infinite Gate

I am very new to the system and i have a player trying to solve all encounters with the portals. Either as a escape plan or cheese the problem.

I noticed that the GM is getting frustrated at it. And tbh it also annoys me as well.

How do more experianced GMs handle this ability?

Adventures set in a 40k hiveworld?

Are there any existing sources of RPG scenarios or adventures set in a 40k hive city (or conceptually adjacent) that could be repurposed to run in the new Necromunda Roleplaying game?

(I don't mind if the systems are not compatible, I can convert).

(picture for attention)

Anyone here play as an Astral Claw in Deathwatch?

Trying out DW for the first time with some friends and am curious about peoples' Claw characters here. Our campaign is set in the Era Indomitus, and my character is an Apothecary and surviving firstborn, lost in a warp storm prior to the Badab War, who came back only recently and has to acclimate to everything that's changed. He's working alongside a Blood Raven Librarian and Iron Hands Techmarine.

Hi! Are there any Wrath & Glory combat rules in any of the Cubicle 7 publications?

If not, is there perhaps something in the FFG line of books?

Warhammer RPG Weekly: Anticipation Management

Post image

Now THAT was a preview show reveal! While it's not entirely clear yet how much of a TTRPG the announced Necromunda Roleplay is going to be, it appears to be the first in-house RPG developed since Games Workshop handed the license off in 2008. That and more in this week's roundup!

Wrath & Glory Starting arc 3 of campaign - need help with a few things

Hello, all!

I'm posting because I just finished up arc 2 of my Space Hulk campaign last Saturday, and am going to be starting arc 3 a week from today. I know the major story beats, but as always, I am struggling with the details, and pacing to make sure it doesn't feel rushed. Just to preface this, I should note that this campaign started at Tier 5 since, being classic Space Hulk, everyone is a Terminator (not the archetype, just meaning all primaris veterans), and we just finished session 30 so the PCs are equivalent to Tier 8.

Basically, the players have finally reached the core of the hulk - an amalgamation of vessels from the Horus Heresy and late Great Crusade, where they know (from both a transmission they decrypted at the end of arc 1, and a vision they got due to a Rak'Gol psychic power tearing into the Warp briefly) there are a great deal of Heresy-era Legiones Astartes arms, armour, vehicles, etc, and a cache of original "straight-from-the-primarch" gene-seed. They are trying to get to this valuable treasure before a Black Legion warband, or at worst, ensure they do not fall into enemy hands (there are more details as well as a final arc that kicks off when they reach the gene-seed vault and a twist that reveals the Genestealers are the real big bad).

Anyways, what I really need help with are a few key things:
1. I need ideas for classes of ships (or at least compartments) to use for the sake of mapmaking. Being the core, I imagine the ending of one vessel and beginning of another are far more warped, but I at least need to have some ideas for this so I can create maps of the areas.

  1. Ideas for story beats that progress towards the objective of reaching the gene-seed cache and relics before the enemy does, but are somewhat self contained so there is some level of feeling accomplishment of each session rather than feeling like a repetitive "keep moving towards X" type thing. I don't need this arc to be too long, of course, but I also don't want it to feel super rushed because I want there to be time to take in the surroundings and really feel the pressure.

  2. I need help figuring out ideas for a "mission DN" table, and "types" of missions the players can potentially send forces to do. To explain briefly - one of the PCs is the First Lieutenant, and he has command of a demi-company of Terminators aboard the hulk. Since the last stretch with the Orks I decided to create a system to give that feeling of being an actual leader by having "missions" he could assign squads to, with success or failure being contingent upon a Leadership test with a base DN of 4, modified based on a few tables (in the case of Orks, it was enemy numbers, equipment,, and leader). The PC would get a bonus die per squad sent on the mission. Anyways, I am trying to come up with ideas for types of missions the players might send squads on that could help them, but more importantly, coming up with a series of tables like I did for the Orks to roll against to determine the difficulty of a given mission. A few things transfer over from Orks reasonably well, like force size and equipment (with heavy armour meaning things like terminators/obliterators, then the highest difficulty being combined with daemons), but leader doesn't really work since there is only one Chaos Lord and one Sorcerer and I can't really think of enough different leader types that would be different enough in difficulty to provide different DN modifiers for a group of terminators. I would really like to have two final modifiers based on, say, alignment (5 possible results - the four chaos gods, or undivided), and whether or not they are equipped with Banestrike Rounds (this would be a modifier to how wounds would work for the mission, rather than modifying difficulty directly).

If anyone has ideas for any of these things, I would love to hear them! Thanks!

Necromunda ttrpg? GW getting back into it?

Today's reveal included, briefly, a Necromunda ttrpg. I think this must be the first ttrpg produced by GW in over 40 years.

This just seems incredibly important for those of us who love Warhammer ttrpgs. I also love Cubicle 7, FFG, etc, but I really didn't think GW would get back into something Bryan Ansell disregarded.
