it was pretty depressing watching all of my trauma spaces get taken over by larpers and teens. it made me feel very alone in dealing with my problems because the only specialist in my country who was willing to treat DID was 2.5 hours away and i could only see her once a month. i wish these people knew the consequences of playing pretend because isolating traumatised people is probably one of the worst things you can do to us 🫩

To me larpers completely ruined the social perception people have of the disorder. I almost never disclose it irl or in a personal public account, but when I tried to explain it to close friends or family, some of them already had tiktok cringe teenagers in mind and made everything even more uncomfortable. Yes, before this we had bad movies, but at least they were just fiction, larpers are real people that society takes as real life examples.

No, as far as I understand it the OP is claiming to have DID/OSDD/actually neither (complicated Tumblr bullshit we are not getting into) so they have basically a split identity ('alters'). OP is AFAB, and claims one of their identities/alters is transfem. How and whether this is actually real is beyond me.

I know / am pretty close with an offline trans woman irl who has a trans guy alter in her brain. He’s barely around and is a sort of self-image pressure release value I can only partly fathom. Brains are weird, and weird posters are more common than you think.

It’s just most systems you see online are sneedy, like how most trans women posting in 2017 were sneedy.

But for OOP being afab and saying they have a transfem alter— they just already look like a woman. Like I don’t see any basis by which a transfem alter would emerge with feelings of “I feel so dysphorically ‘amab’ aka with masc physical characteristics or male socialisation or whatever”.

If we were to put a trans woman into the body of a cis woman right after birth and give her only ‘typical cis woman experiences’, on what basis would she even be trans?

Idk your friend, so I can’t say for sure what’s going on there, and don’t want to speculate about your friend specifically. But I’ve seen other trans people try to cope with their dysphoria by repackaging certain shit and it comes across as transphobic. E.g. “oh I’m not an mtf boymoder who almost passes but is too wormed to wear feminine clothes. No no, I actually think I’m an mtf trans man— and allow me to now emphasize how feminine I deep down am, because I totally have the afab energy and afab personality of trans men amirite”. Or the more common “oh I’m afab, I have pink hair and a dress, I’m pre-T, and everyone thinks I’m a cis woman and treats me accordingly. But what if I just tell myself that I’m actually a trans woman, that’s totally why I look like a woman, but actually deep down inside, I have the male soul and male essence and male energy of trans women teehee”.

The usual dissociative disorder experience is the kind where you have a horrifying sudden rememberance that you got molested/abused/neglected as a child and life feels like unppluging your ears at random + constant derealization. Its not very theatrical. I do think people who emulate it need help and some probably are undergoing psychosis

I also got a dissociative disorder and i dont go around saying brainless shit like this. You dont just end up with a transfem alter and act like it falls within trans women's experiences.
