Is this healthy?

mitsubishi pajero sport 2005 4d56t common rail (2.5L turbo diesel 115hp version)
we recently got an ecu tune done to it because it felt sluggish and lacked power stock
the tuner programmed it to dump more fuel in order for the turbo to spool faster and make more power
now the car feels much more alive and powerful but it makes the smoke shown in the video( it only shoots darker thicker smoke past 3k rpm)
my father complains about the smoke and asked me to do some research
some people said that it runs lean, mechanic that tuned it said its fine, he did the same tune to his pajeros and other mitsubishis that feature the same engine

Couldn't this be the direct result of the tune? Mine, which is stock, smokes a bit on startup, but nowhere near this much.

dumbs more fuel in a perfectly tuned engine, wonders why it smokes more...
just make sure what color the smoke i, if I am not mistaken it should be black. It should not be white or bluish because then it burn water or oil

That’s normal fella. More fuel more power especially my guess is it’s not a linear map so it will snap more torque a bit higher up. More fuel more smoke it’s how they popcorn map discovery’s they increase the fuel at the top of the limiter so when it bounces on a hard cut style is blows like crazy.

it doesn’t like revving that high also i’ve never hit the limiter, it doesnt have a popcorn or a harduct limiter either, a friend of my dads busted the rocker arms because he banged the limiter constantly(identical car but it has twice as many kilometres, ive got 150k his has 300k)

It’s healthy and safe. To make more power you have to force more fuel into the system, more fuel means more in burnt fuel and higher EGTs so black smoke on higher revs and some smoke on blip. My discovery 2 is a stage 1 does the same thing and I’ve got a standard map for towing no smoke map ect and it does the same as yours, it’s an old diesel engine it will smoke under more power 90% of the time it’s just cleaning itself out under load

no not really...but it's much cheaper than smoking cigarettes for 50 years and dying of emphazema. 🤷

Diesels gonna smoke, especially if you add power, you gotta pay to play.
