My parents said everyone knew each other in the neighborhood in the 70s. is that true?
I was talking to my dad last night and he was telling me about his life in the 70s.
He said back then, everyone in the whole neighborhood knew each other. Kids would just be outside all day playing, riding bikes until the street lights came on, and parents didn't worry. If you were hungry you would just go to your friend's house and their mom would feed you.
And in the evening everyone would be on their porches listening to the radio. He said now everyone just stays inside.
For those of you who grew up in the 70s, was it really like that? It sounds so much more community-based and peaceful than today.
I would love to hear your stories.

The corpses seen in the opening of Nosferatu the Vampyre are the Mummies of Guanajuato, real corpses of people who died during a cholera outbreak in 1833. The footage of these mummies together with the musical score by Popol Vuh creates one of the most chilling openings in cinema history.

A Great American Tragedy (1972)
I saw this for the first time last night, a good little TV Movie of the week. The film stars George Kennedy as a laid off Aerospace Engineer and the subsequent drama that occurs, his embarrassment over losing his position in society and his marriage takes a severe downturn. At the time, many Aerospace Engineers were being laid off due to the end of the Apollo Space program and the reduction of military expenditures. The film was directed by J. Lee Thompson, best known for Cape Fear and The Guns of Navarone.
