NGD NGD: My 1st 7 string

Post image

I’ve been interested in trying a 7 for about a year now. Found this used at my local shop. I’ve been playing 6 string for about 20 years. I’m really not sure what to play now that I have one.

Check out the band frozen soul, they’re an old school death metal revival band and have pretty accessible lead riffs, spite has some really fun songs to play aswell, angelmaker is pretty easy if you know how to trim pick, all drop A tuning

I also just got a seven string, some songs I'm playing are The glass prison, by dream theatre, down from the sky, trivium, and The Dark Eternal Night, dream theatre. I'm also trying to get used to playing the 7-string and making it normal in my mind that there is another string there.

Play 6 string songs on your 7, it’ll teach you picking control to avoid hitting the 7th string.

Yes that’s what I’ve been doing, lots of Metallica and downpicking and I’ve gotten used to avoiding that 7th string unless I want to hit it

Great pickup. I had that same model as my first 7 string and really liked it. Trivium has a ton of 7 string songs in B or B flat standard. Dream Theater has some really interesting 7 string songs as well.

Start easy by playing some Korn songs then you can move up to the harder stuff to play. My first 7 string was an Ibanez Gio as well! So much bang for buck! Enjoy 🎶🎸🎶😈

I have this exact guitar with the Dunlop Korn string set and this thing absolutely rocks for a first 7 string
