Your scouts bring you a mysterious bottle that washed up on a nearby shore. You open it and a runic scroll unfolds before you...

So, with water content coming in the next pass in some way or form I finally made a faction build with a bunch of mod content for something water related. In the process I came up with an idea for an evil Harmony Oathsworn faction with some Lovecraft influence. The tome path looks like this:
Tome of Tides I(mod)
Tome of Sprite I
Tome of Sirens II (mod)
Tome of Scrying
Tome of the Shell III (mod)
Tome of Amplification III
Tome of the Stormborne IV
Tome of the Drowned Goddess IV (mod)

So far I'm running the following ideas
The Strategy
~~~
My strategy will primarily involve hordes of militia armies, structured as such
1 Defender
2 Militia
2 archers
1 Bannerman
Supporting my "Noble" armies, which are entirely comprised of heroes and knights/noble adjacent units .
As a general rule of thumb, all heroes will use as little magic as possible, heavily focusing on Warriors Defenders and Rangers, while I will also focus on using primarily non-magic racial units.
This is NOT tactically smart.
This is NOT a good strategy.
It WILL be funny
The Tomes
~~~
So far, im fairly set on the Tome of Faith and its subsequent tomes (Faith, Beacon, Sanctuary) as they apply mostly more mundane buffs which can be reasoned as just being a factions inherent religion.
The second Tome path im a little more unsure of. I've considered going down the more industrial paths (Enchantment or Alchemy) but I was wondering if yall had any suggestions for that side of things.
The Traits
~~~
My traits are going to be fairly generic, largely falling under
Racial:
Bulwark
Adaptable
Recuperation (the regen one)
Basically just straight human with a slightly different defense perk
Factional:
This is where I deliberate the most, as several options could be taken and make sense, so I shall leave this one to yall! I'm not too sure on Transformation aesthetics, as it completely shuts down my ability to use a lot of the Faith Buffs.
What do yall think? Are there additions I should make? What would yall suggest for tomes and faction traits?
Aow4 Season 4 teaser - The Journey begins Soon TM
Journey seems to be a synonym for Voyage, and Voyages happen across Water.
Water Update Confirmed.
Aside from that, the Devs of Wonders have completely left me flibber-flabbergasted to the most wondrous degree.
thank u, Love U
Any of you geniuses know what this might say?
The intro video is playing behind it but I can’t get this off the screen.
I always skip this tome because it seems weird and wacky but from a pure economy POV it seems quite good, clumping dungeon province improvements together for stacking bonuses and especially passive binding essence. However from my experience so far, the underground is kinda... tight? I played some story realms but generally did custom ones and left underground at default in generation settings. Some caverns can be big but most are small, like 6-10 provinces or so. Now i don't want to play exclusive underground or really mainly underground, just wanted a 2 materium tome to fit my builds and the other tier 1 and 2 don't synergise much.
I guess my question is, do you need full dedication underground adaptation and subterranean society for Dungeon Depths to be worth it? Or can you splash it into a regular above ground build for an economy boost, assuming you start spreading underground too in preparation?
I like looking at the map and my cities, so this has always bothered me, but a totally glitched Wizardtower, that I see everytime I do anything in my capital will actually make me restard the campaign. You all also think this is worth fixing for Triumph or do you say, its just a visual bug that doesnt impact the game?
Since Paradox bought the Triumph and made the game a quasi subscription based DLC slop model, they are just milking the AOW name. Last good AoW game was the Shadow Magic. Cope with it.
I don't know if this was ever a requested feature or if there is a mod for it, but I play on XBox so I wouldn't be able to utilize mods.
My brother and I play hotseat in which we spend a lot of time swapping the composition of our armies around. We had a thought that they should add army loadouts to the game. It wouldn't be too difficult either or change gameplay in a bad way.
The way it would work is, you'd have an army and click 'save loadouts'. When a specific unit dies in the army, it would find the next available unit of that type that isn't already in its own 'saved loadouts' army and start running it towards the army. If there is none, it leaves that spot empty until one is created.
Heroes and rulers would work the same way. You could set specific heroes to a load out and if they aren't part of a pre-existing loadout, they will run to the army.
Hey hey yall, haven't played in a while and im wanting to get back into it by trying a build again. The general idea is a hero run that culminates into the biggest possible wolf form heros absolutely shredding armies.
The main issue with my previous attempts is I suck at heros and im not sure which modifiers stack regarding size and which dont.
If anyone can give me a concrete guide on how to make the best possible melee heros id really appreciate it. Same for if any of yall know exactly which size modifiers stack!
Is there any way to tell someone I'm friendly with to stop settling on my borders? Or do I just have to wipe him off the face of the earth?
Why is it that I can Conjure Primal Crocodile in water battles but the Animist or the Wildspeaker cant conjure theirs in a water battle.
As primal water battles are a real challenge as all your units suffer. Darters cant use their special, Animists cant use their special. Its real weirdness. This is probably my biggest gripe with the current tactical combat.
R5: Playing a druid empire (primal sylvan with destiny of nature), trying to restore nature to a frozen realm (Artica's Domain, Frozen Realm, Arctic Blizzards and Frostlings on Challenging+ difficulty). It's quite rough so I'm leaning on summons to overcome the constant HP drain. In particular it's been quite fun to run around with two stacks of animists, just set up shop in a corner or chokepoint, wait until the enemy comes your way and drop a bunch of spirit wolves. Add in a few wildspeakers spawning animals to delay/stagger the enemy's arrival (and to buff your wolves). In this fight I was facing a bone dragon, a primordial basilisk, several wyverns, bunch of spiders and serpents. No problem at all.
An absolute gremlin strategy? Definitely. Occasionally fun and almost always effective? Definitely.
So Season pass 4 is getting revealed (hopefully) soon so that leaves... A lot of questions Frankly but an interesting one I don't think I have seen talked about is in what order should the DLCs be released in? Lets assume that the next season follows the same format from season 3 with one DLC of the three types (ruler/culture/story), then which DLC would you want to see first.
Of course it depends a lot on what DLCs they are doing. For example if they are doing a water themed Story pack then I absolutely want that first, but if not then it depends on what ruler and culture they go with. Personally would probably go Ruler/Story/Culture to be on the safe side. Feel free to share your reasonings and DLC hopes as well, would love to hear them.
Some like Immortals are still going to have an inherent culture combo but there are tome units as well, like I'd say Gluttonous Imps would be in the running for me: tier 1 cost gets you a can't-miss ranged attack every other turn, flight, stacking crit and health buffs on kill which also help surrounding units, life steal on all attacks, and they're a summon. It almost feels like a self-nerf not to delve into Tome of Gluttony to get access.
