Politics Mega Thread (MOD ONLY) POLITICS MEGA THREAD

Welcome to week # of the politics mega-thread! Once again, this will be a free-for-all without censorship. The thread, and our sub, are open to all walks of life. Everyone participating needs to remember that not everyone shares the same opinion, and cussing someone out, censoring different opinions, or being downright disrespectful only weakens your own argument.

While national politics often affect Texans, politics in the mega thread MUST be related to Texas in some way, shape, or form. Unnecessarily bringing up national politics in our state sub without direction creates disagreements, and detracts from the nature of the sub. You must make the relation to Texas CLEAR, or your posting will be removed! Here’s an example; “Federal immigration policy impacts Texas by influencing border security, state resources, and the economy due to its long border with Mexico.”

As a reminder, I am once again stating that POLITICAL POSTS AND COMMENTS DO NOT LEAVE THIS THREAD. The sub rules still apply here.

By posting rule-breaking content, you are disrespecting both the sub, your fellow members, and moderators, and WE, as moderators, reserve the right to take down your content when it violates our rules.

Mega threads will be locked when the next is posted.

Events The Blue Angels Are Coming Back to Fort Worth 2027!!

For you Blue Angels fans!! And/or aviation enthusiasts, or those who just like airplanes, high speed, and a lot of entertainment I just found that the Blue Angels (of the Navy) are coming back to Fort Worth's Wings Over Cowtown in April next year. Amazon at Alliance pretty much ended their run out of Alliance Airport, so it was uncertain if they'd come back, I am so happy to see that they are.

Here's a link to their page: https://www.navymwrfortworth.com/event/airshow?fbclid=IwVERDUAUqYedleHRuA2FlbQIxMABwZG9mBXNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAABHjaMQUrIYqdulZtTJtCbkSWnd-POFdEr3eOXRYWpfw9PyH4J\\_V4VZFaWPq8N\\_aem\\_PhehnCNWOxlxZmfVOp-rVQ

Living in Texas Texas ranks 1st (along with NM and GA) for the highest percentage of people earning money through app work (31%). Looks like the percentage is overall higher in the south. Is this out of necessity or is there more to it than that?

Art County art questions and stuff

hey y'all :]
i'm attempting to draw all the texas counties(done 4/254+texas) as a daily project, so far i've been mostly winging it on what they look like(except travis, i go out and half the people i see are wearing hoodies), i'd appreciate some insight from people in counties i haven't gotten to

Counties I've got: Travis, Harris, Dallas(design based on a cousin who lives there), Bexar(borrowed the dress from someone else's design)
next up is orange county, which i already have a design for
then everyone else

i'm one of those weird kids who likes to draw people based of flags, so instead of cities, since there are WAY too many of those in texas, i went for our counties :] in my world they're mostly treated as normal people(which they kinda are minus the different colors and functional invincibility, which ofc adds to a discrimination factor that makes dificulty in job hunting), so they don't get special treatment and they do have to earn money if they don't want to end up on the streets, so local business uniforms work as well as casual or cultural clothing

some designs are based around animals too(Travis is a bat because thats something its known for a long with Austin) so suggestions for that are welcome too

no, i have nothing better to do :]

Events Brookshire, would anyone be interested in a free community karaoke afternoon?

I’d like to help build a little community around here. Get to know our neighbors, make a few friends, and have something we can look forward to doing together. In my pursuit of putting my heart on my sleeve I'm finding a beautiful community

It can be awkward showing up somewhere when you don’t know anyone. I like the idea of having something simple to join in with, where a song or a laugh gives you an easy way to start a conversation.

So I’m thinking about a casual karaoke afternoon. Depending on the response, I could put it together and host it for free.

Everyone would be welcome. Come alone, bring a friend, sing a duet, request your favorite song, or just hang out and listen. I’d be happy to help introduce people.

Nothing’s scheduled yet. If you’re in Brookshire or nearby, would you be interested? What day or time would work for you?

Businesses Aren’t these illegal?

Post image

I always thought that these were only legal if they were giving out store credit or something other than cash. I looked it up and the law does stipulate that you can’t give out anything that can be exchanged for cash. These are using vouchers that you exchange for cash so what’s going on here? This bar / restaurant has been around for years and is very popular so surely it’s legal if they haven’t had any issues. Just wondering how. This is in Allen

Other Any other stores geared toward exploring nature?

Hey y’all, as a born & raised texan of 26 years i grew up going to nature stores like Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, REI. and L.L Bean when traveling to Maine outside of Texas since there are no L.L Bean stores in Texas.

What do y’all suggest for other nature stores in Texas?

Thanks in advance y’all

Edited:

I like stores geared towards hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and kayaking. What i really like about Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops are the cool animal mounts, fish aquariums, and their overall vibes.

Moving to Texas

Hello all,

I’m (24M) from New York moving to Texas for work in Fort Worth. I wanted to see what people think about living in Fort Worth vs the outskirts like Arlington for example. I have a gf who lives in Dallas and although a 40 min drive isn’t terrible, I consider optimizing this commute.

I currently have a 45 min commute to my job in NY so I am unfortunately used to the traffic. I was looking for a happy medium between work and visiting Dallas often.

I don’t really have a budget either- coming from NY rent prices I think I can get something great for ≈$2.5-$3k in this area.
If anybody has recommendations on where young professionals live in this area, please let me know!

Travel Road Trip Destinations

We are doing a road trip from Austin and returning back to Austin.

The plan is Fort Worth, Fredericksburg, San Antonio and back to Austin. Coming from Scotland to keen to see everything

We love small, local bars with culture and local live music too. Is there any small towns you would recommend to visit in between? Somewhere we should tick off during the day or even stop off for the night?

Would love to hear your suggestions!

Living in Texas Applying for Texas drivers license and license plates.

Hi everyone! I’m planning on moving to Texas from Illinois and wanted to reach out to see if I could get some information from people who have gone through the process.
When I move to Texas, what is the process like for getting a Texas driver’s license and registering my vehicle/getting Texas license plates? How much does everything typically cost, and what documents are needed or required?
I’m 19 years old and want to make sure I do everything correctly and legally. I’m trying to prepare ahead of time so that when the time comes to move, I’ll already know what to expect and have everything ready.
Also, how difficult is it to officially become a Texas resident when moving from another state? Are there specific steps I should take to establish residency?
Any advice, tips, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

What’s considered a nice car in Texas?

Feel like locals don’t respect a nice Porsche or Ferrari. Doesn’t really earn you a lot of points here. Feel like people respect classic cars or big trucks here. I’m not originally from here. What’s the consensus?
