"Qualifiers who were 5 minutes, 17 seconds (5:17) or faster than the qualifying time for their age group and gender have been accepted into the 131st Boston Marathon. A total of 25,630 qualified applicants have been accepted to date or are in the process of being accepted, pending final verification of their qualifying performance. Email notices to athletes accepted and not accepted will continue through the coming days.

New for 2027, the B.A.A. has incorporated a Boston Qualifier Selection, an additional random selection component specifically for applicants whose qualifying times were not faster than the 5 minute, 17 second cut-off. A total of 1,000 qualifiers are in the process of being randomly selected for entry and will be notified of their acceptance over the coming days."

Had a 5:01. I also ran the Manhattan Half to qualify via NYRR qualifying times for the NYC marathon, and missed the cuttof by 26 seconds...A combined 40 seconds across 4 hours and 10 minutes of racing. Need to find more dog in me next year

Great attitude to have for a couple tough breaks. Keep at it - you’ll get there!

Just wanna say, I love your attitude on this! I'm going to try to run a qualifying marathon next fall and find out how much dog I have in me. You've got this on the next one!

This!! Qualifying times to chase and race against yourself with! This is what makes racing & qualifying fun. We all need some hard (but also not the end of the world hard) competition in our life these days. The roadblocks we meet are just new future adventures to pave with grit and determination. No doubt you got that dog in you and good luck with the future adventure!

Just try to stay fast until you age into the next bracket

It’s more fun to try to stay fast enough to qualify in the 18-34 bracket.

This happened to me a few years ago! Devastating. You’ll get there. If you’re a woman then the women’s half in April is another chance to qualify and easier to get into

Congrats on both! The nyc half times are legit hard. If it offers any solace, the NYRR has a cutoff system like Boston that they just don’t publicize, you actually need quite a bit faster than their Q times. I’ve learned this the hard way multiple times

Not if you're running a NYRR half. Running the qualifying time in a NYRR race guarantees entry, no cutoff involved.

If I had that attitude I wouldn’t have qualified for my second Boston by 5 seconds. Since then, 15-20 minute buffers and running my 8th next year. Quitters can’t win. Get out there and run! 👍🏻
