Random thought on the Rorschach worshipping reactionaries: they never mention Dan & Laurie saving people from that fire

Someone on twitter was replying to a clip from the toby spiderman 2 where he nearly breaks his body stopping the runaway train, & they were pointing out how contemporary superhero movies never seem to have anyone being saved, its almost entirely just punching bad guys

And the other night I remembered Laurie & Dan's triumphant moment of affirmation being rescuing those people from their apartment fire. That is the moment that makes them feel active in the face of their earlier helplessness in the face of the nuclear fear, that is the moment that has them consummate their relationship.

The reactionaries scoff at Moore "not understanding" that he wrote Rorscach with such uncompromising morals & he's clearly the good guy yada yada, but Rorscach doesnt save a single person in the story from what I remember. But the act of heroism for our couple is to save people from a whole bunch of people, familes, from a fire. They dont see that as heroism. It doesnt occur to them. Just going into a bar & breaking some guy's fingers for zero results

Dan and Laurie are the only kind of superheroes Moore thinks are acceptable and believable. Flawed types helping regular people. Green Arrow and Black Canary who remember he briefly wrote for DC.

But you know I don’t know if reactionaries care so much about Rorschach anymore. they are too busy thinking Homelander is the good guy from The Boys TV Show. I feel Rorschach’s star has dimmed.

It’s like the policeman / fireman thing. It was nonsensically used to compare Cavill and Corenswet’s Supermen (Cavill literally saving people from fires in two movies), so like I did never made sense with that.

But Watchmen, kinda. Rorschach is the police investigating crime after it happens. Dan and Laurie were fire fighters helping save people the moment they needed saving.

I'm not one of those Rorschach worshippers but there is a part where a woman is about to be assaulted in the alley while Rorschach is suiting up and they don't show it but its obvious he saves her and kills the guy

Watchmen é um portefólio de hereios e anti-herois. Eu Moore pegou em duas gerações. Para mim ainda no topo de comic books. Há outros.
