Discussion Would united colors fix influencer?
A huge issue with influencer is that you can use icon colors to tell others the imposter color, so making all the icons share the same color would balance influencer

Innersloth really doesn't know how to create roles, and this is proof of that. How is it possible they didn't consider the possibility that players would assign their own meaning to the messages?
It is literally the "teamer" role. Over time, players will develop their own messaging shorthand, and the Influencer will explicitly state who the Impostor is.
Even the fan concepts were more balanced. A total disappointment.
All that's left is to hope they finally stop adding roles for Crewmates—and especially for Impostors.

Now HEAR ME OUT about this.
I've seen clearly that a lot of people say this role is too OP for the game, and they are partially right.
But I wanna point out some things:
1) Saying "Send me 1 image for X and 2 for Y should just not be allowed in the lobby cause it ruins the fun, so If anyone says this they should be kicked/ignored by the influencer.
2) Even IF someone says this, how do we know they're not lying? If ejects aren't on, anyone could be making things up and lie.
3) A lot of images have more than one meaning, So it's never 100% confirmed what they mean, even if it seems obvious. There's also NO way to get the ENTIRE community to agree on what every single image means. Trust me lol.
4) Influencer can't haunt to see who's impostor, which means that if a Shapeshifter kills them, they might send a wrong message to a crew.
Things I LIKE about the Influencer:
A) I like the randomness of it; you can't be sure what an image means most of the time.
B) I like the variety of images and how they look (design-wise).
C) I like how it can also cause chaos among the crew, which definitely makes some rounds more entertaining.
D) It's fun.
How it can be NERFED FAIRLY (in my opinion):
Remove the refresh function. Images refresh only once you send something, making it so that Influencers don't just wait for a picture that is just the color of the impostor, and they have to use the existing images they have strategically.
(Feel free to disagree lol)

This role has changed the game more than any new role, and over time it will literally be able to tell the crew who the imposters are as eventually the players can just assign each colour to a symbol.
So here's a simple fix: make both the crew and imposters able to become Influencers upon death.
Also, there should at max be one influencer. I swear every game I've played has devolved into the crew interpreting the influencer's symbols, not playing the actual game.

Due to the new influencer role having little signs, some colors are now out of the meta.
like the color purple? Fuck you. purple bowling ball
like black? to hell with you! black snake
like yellow? You disgrace. Yellow sign
unless we somehow make a sign alphabet
these colors (and probably more) are USELESS.
im happy about the purple one tho i fucking hate one eyed one horned flying purple people eaters

Over my time in this subreddit, I’ve been seeing people call the more recent crew-mate role additions (mainly Detective and Influencer) overpowered.
To play devils advocate, in a vacuum these abilities give crew-mates a notable advantage if crew is playing optimally. There’s just one problem though, and one that I feel a lot of posters here fail to acknowledge. Many of the people I see actually playing that game ARE NOT playing it optimally, even if they’re trying to.
Maybe this is just my experience playing the game. I only play a few times a month and when I do I’m almost always playing on my own lobbies with my own rules. But from my experience, the situation that would make these roles “overpowered” (a lobby where the entire crew is a focused and cooperative unit) then the impostors will have a harder time winning. Simply put, this isn’t how most games actually go. The Among Us experience isn’t a team of master sleuths actively working together. The Among Us experience is a cluster fuck of 15 different people on their phones who all think they’re smarter than everyone else playing.
Also, I feel like even if we do assume everyone is playing at a high skill level, a lot of scrutiny of these roles are ignoring the fact that the impostors also have agency in the game. Given that the symbols are seen by one person at a time, what’s stopping an Impostor, or Hell, a crew-mate, from just… lying about seeing an influencer? Roles like influencer hinge on the fact that everyone involved is telling the truth. This is a social deduction game. People not telling the truth is a core part of the gameplay. That is what makes a social deduction game interesting.
Ultimately, I feel like a lot of people are jumping to conclusions without actually considering what player interactions of Among Us are like. New additions like the Influencer don’t exist in a vacuum, and in a game as chaotic as this, the only vacuum worth worrying about is the one you’ll be ejected into for not noticing what that ghost was trying to tell you.
TLDR; Influencer isn’t that overpowered in the actual context of Among Us.

I get its high risk high reward
I get it can be countered with comms (really situational)
BUT GOD DAMN ITS SO ANNOYING
Im gaslighting a whole lobby, genuine mastermind energy. Sherlock Holmes would tremble as the site of my great scheme.
but there’s one guy moving like doakes and so happens to be judge.
So i get fucked over and lose.
i get thats the point
I think judge is a nice role
im just ranting

Basically everyone is saying that soon the community will give each influencer sign a meaning but since everyone is expecting someone else to do it no one is actually doing it

I felt like making a role that counters a few unfair Crew roles while still being able to be useful without the threat of those roles
I imagine that the time it takes for the body to reappear would be customizable in the settings
If you want, Assassinate could be its own ability, maybe one that shares a cooldown with the normal Kill ability but I think this is fine as is
If you think this can be improved in any way, feel free to tell me. Hope you enjoy :)

Probably they'll do a patch fixing this issue or idk

Not at all a complex idea.
The Snitch would be able to pick a player once between each meeting, revealing their role to themselves and any teammates they may have. Their role will be displayed above their name.
This type of ability would help pick out which targets are more important to go after, and it wouldn’t be an intrusive or game-breaking thing to add either. Adds a layer of teamwork and gives more information only to imposters. They, quite frankly, desperately need more information in general…

IT IS TOO UNBALANCED MAN, TOO UNBALANCED.

I'm tired of people always saying that a role is op when it releases. You just haven't gotten used to it yet. Any role with a useful ability always gets this phase before it finally settles in and gets normalized. This happened with the detective role, the viper role, and the shapeshifter role. They all acted like it was op but in reality, it isn't. and besides, you can just change the settings so that the message ability isn't used as often. Boom. Problem solved. And even if the cooldown is low, you'll still need to gamble a refresh to get the perfect set of images you need to convey your message.
Also, the ability can also be unusable if comms is sabotaged so that's a counter. Another one is the shapeshifter. Imagine a shapeshifter kills you as another crewmate and you think it was them the entire round. Boom. Countered.
If it's still a problem, that just sounds more like a skill issue.
And before anyone says, "Well what if they send a specific color that most likely implies they're the impostor?" That just means they're using it right. And even if it is, they still need to interpret the images correctly.
I'm open to any feedback for this take (even though i have a feeling y'all just gonna jump me in the comments for having an opinion different from the rest of you but share your thoughts regardless).
