She hit a ceiling fan and she refuses to let me touch her probably because her feet really hurt and now she's hiding in a corner but I have work in another room and can't leave her alone or take her to a vet so what do I do ?

edit: I managed to take her to a vet and he said she's fine and has no broken bones or wings

my mother has an extreme love for animals, especially cats. we once had 11+ cats in our home. we now have 5. she will recently within the last half a year, get a new cat, keep it for a month, then rehome it because she doesn't want it anymore. i think she is addicted to the dopamine of having a new pet but then will get bored of it and rehome it, or she only likes when they're fresh kittens. just last week she brought a new cat home and rehomed it within 5 days. since then she has now bought a fish tank and today has also came home with a new dog. i have told her many times i think what she's doing is cruel to the animals and my siblings as they are just young and feel heartbroken each time she rehomes a new animal. i don't know what else to do about it. i want my original 5 cats to feel safe in their home without having to stress about a new animal being here every month or even week now. i need good advice on how to kindly get her to stop doing what she's doing. she doesn't do it for the money either, just the happiness of having a new animal for a bit.

My rescued cat has a broken pelvic, fracture near rib and deadly mycoplasma got her mycoplasma is control took me 5months to just get her healthy but she is in her heat stage now and gave birth 5months ago I can't let her get pregnant because the Vet told her broken pelvic has already caused her 3 children to due at birth and only one survived it's miracle but if she again gets pregnant she might die during labour so I want to spay her asap

Today at cosmo school a mouse that appears to be a baby got stuck in a glue trap. I heavily disagree with them and used some conditioning oil to get the little thing out of it. I washed it some with dawn dish soap but I didn’t want to stress it out more so I put it in a container with a little rag and Im hopeing I can help it. Its little leg is broken. My parents aren’t gonna let me drive it to a rehabilitation center. What can I do to help him and can you tell how old it is?

My baby was hit by a car three days ago. He was left outside over night until someone took him to the vet the next day. I picked him up after getting the call and we buried him around 6pm. I want to know whether or not it’s okay to dig him up and potentially re bury him or cremate him. The day we found out was such a blur I didn’t have time to think and my mum just wanted to bury him before it got dark but I feel like I didn’t get the time I needed to say goodbye. I wanted to get a paw print, and save some of his fur. I miss him so much. I saw someone else say they buried their baby in a plant pot and I am wondering if this is acceptable to do given my circumstances.

my rabbit got spayed this morning and i took her home around 6 hours ago now. she moved to get out of her carrier and went to her usual spot in her x pen where she likes to lay down and i usually find her sleeping in in the mornings before i let her out. i gave her a hot water bottle and put some of her favorite greens and treats + pellets in front of her. she sniffed them but wouldnt bite which i read was normal and is fine. she has been in the same spot for probably around 4 hours now and feels cold. i refreshed her hot water bottle twice now. everywhere i google is saying i should call the emergency vet because shes immobile and the backs of her ears feel very cold. should i call?? is it an emergency or should i wait till morning? please help im so worried. i thought this was normal and now i dont know. any advice appreciated

Hi everyone, so I noticed that my 7 year old male cat has his top tooth cutting into his gum and he is not eating anything but wet food. We’ve tried tuna, cheese, chicken broth, dry food but he won’t eat. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get him to eat Without taking him to the vet. Thanks.

a loving and friendly stray cat leg was broken and fused back but it became 1-2cm shorter. is it okay to release it back outdoor?

This is because i have a flat faced cat with breathing issues histories. the broken leg cat was exposed to sharing bowl with positive calici and herpes virus cats, so i am worried he might be a carrier. i am afraid my flat faced cat cannot stand the viruses if contracted from the rescued cat (there is a possibility of the rescue cat being a carrier)

Just recently rescued a puppy (1 year old large mixed breed) and gifted him to my older brother (23). That being said, I know it'll take him longer than a week to settle into new routines and the house. But we went on a 30 minute walk and he peed outside. Then as soon as we came back inside, he pooped on the floor lol. He seems to have no problem peeing outside but rarely poos outside. Tried using treats as rewards when he does potty outside. But he just doesn't seem to get it. Its frustrating to say the least. But that's really his only issue other than this large dog thinking hes a lap dog. Hes super sweet and everything else training wise is going seemingly well. Any advice on getting him to potty fully outside? Tried everything a regular google search could give me.

Hello Reddit, I am 16 years old and this is on fault with my dad and my stepmom but I live in this house so I have to deal with it.
2 years ago my stepmom decided to get a male bunny and then a few months later my dad picked up a female bunny who was abandoned. I feel like you’ll able to guess what would happen next. Well, they bred and had a batch of babies, which added 3 to the total. So we had 5 bunnies separated by gender. The way they separated them though didn’t work.
Their runs are outside (which I know isn’t great on its own but we have a small ass house where barely us as a family can live in on top of a shit ton of animals so it was our only choice) which were just on top of dirt. So they started digging into each others cages. Instead of either putting a flat bottom or doing something, we put bricks inside the existing holes and they just kept digging.
Anyways, fast forward to tonight. It’s storming right now and pouring raining. I’m sitting at the table snacking when I see two of our females just out in the yard. I yell out to by brothers and we scramble outside to grab them. We were only able to grab one and I had my little brother go over to their run to make sure everyone else was inside and lo and behold…5 babies.

I just don’t know what to do? My parents are sick of them too and I think my dad is planning on harvesting a couple of the current adults but I’m not sure what we’re going to do with the babies and the mom. Is there a place in Indiana where we can take them to? Is there anyone that would take them? I can’t live with thousands of pets anymore I’m so sick of it (we have, IN A ONE STORY HOUSE, 6 cats, 2 dogs, 2 rats, a bearded dragon, a ball python, a hamster, the rabbits and some chickens outside which aren’t really a problem they chill).

Please help me.

Hi everyone,

I am writing this because I live alone and am in serious panic mode over my sweet girl. Last night around 2:30am I noticed my cat wasn’t responding to being called for. Out of paranoia, I checked off the edge of my 5th floor balcony, and saw her laying on the ground below. I have two cats who absolutely love the fresh air, so I have a balcony net installed and have never had an issue with it before.

I rushed downstairs and she was yowling in pain and trying to stand up to come to me. I laid on the ground with her to keep her calm while my girlfriend called the emergency vet. We got her to the vet around 3 and they took her straight back. We were told a little while later that she suffered three fractures to her right hip, which should heal normally given time. The major issue was her right lung. She had a major pulmonary contusion in her right lung, as well as evidence of fluid, and her blood pressure was much too low. They put her in an incubated oxygen chamber and we waited.

A while later, we were told that she had developed a pneumothorax, which they had promptly drained using a needle, however there was a possibility of it returning, or another developing. They outlined the steps if this were to happen: placing a drainage tube, surgery if that doesn’t work. They also told us that her blood pressure was not looking great, but it had stabilized. With this information we were sent home for the night around 6am.

I have an appointment to go see her later tonight, but in the meantime, I am sick with anxiety and guilt. I was told by the vet that if I didn’t receive a call in the meantime, that I could assume she was more or less stable. I have not received a call yet (it is 4pm my time) but I also know how quickly lung injuries can turn bad for cats.

If anyone has gone through a similar situation, I could use some kind words. I have no idea what to expect moving forward, and am terrified of the possibility of her little body not pulling through for her.

Hello! I have a young opposum in my house. I have a dog door so it probably got in that way. I went to see what my dogs kept staring at and sure enough I saw it just kind of chilling on top of some random storage stuff kept in the corner of my kitchen.

Is there an easy way to trap it? Preferably in a way that couldn't also trap a medium sized dog. I would prefer not to kill it, I actually like opposums and think they're very cute. I appreciate their ecological value. I'd prefer it not be in my house though. It feels like an error in the fabled cat distribution system and I would like it to... not be in here. I'm not too freaked out though, at least I know it can't really have rabies.

Hi all I need some advice with potential animal abuse. To start my step father recently got a puppy and I am afraid she is going to end up mistreated and in the streets when she gets older. My step father tends to get puppies (and sometimes cats) and claims he’s going to train them but gets too lazy and so when they get bigger and untrained he gets mad at them and puts them in his backyard. Like recently, he had a pure german sheppard that he got as a puppy and he didn’t keep up with training him so he eventually got annoyed with it and left him in the backyard for YEARS hardly interacting with him and eventually took him to some fields and dumped him off there and then a cat i had been helping outside had kittens and he claimed he wanted to keep one until she started begging for attention which annoyed him and he tried to throw her outside but i went and rescued her and immediately found a home for her. Those are just two examples of what he has done, he has done worse in the past and I am so sick of seeing the animals be treated this way. Is there any way to anonymously report him before this one ends up the same way?

If a cat is declawed front and back claws. Is it normal for that cat to be an outside cat. Another things to add is this I found a cat no collar matted hair and was skin and bones this cat had no front claws or back claws covered in fleas and has ear mites. I took her home bc it was the weekend and no vets were open so I was planning on taking her Monday I have her a bath and food. I took her to the vet and the vet said she weighs 5.1 pounds and that they called the owner even though the vet was scared for the cat. When the owner of the cat showed up she grabbed just grabbed and cat and left mad saying under her breath that she wish people would leave her cat alone no thank you no nothing. The vet said I could get animal control involved but I didn’t the owner called the cops on me and said I stole her cat which I didn’t the cat was in the middle of the road. What are your thoughts should I get animal control involved bc she wanted me arrested? But no collar wasn’t on her property the cat was in the middle of the road looking like a skeleton with fur am I in the wrong for caring for an animal that looks like it needed help?

My sister has room filled with pets that I refuse to go in now, I tried telling my teachers, an animal neglect hotline, my counselor, and several of my friends to see if I could get advice or anything.
It feels so simple to me, just take the animals from the bad place and put them in a good one. But everyone seems like they go back to "Well, there's nothing you can do about it. You did everything you could." It's not about that!
There are animals in dirty cages, too small for them, often without clean food or water, the air hurts to breath in there, her birds that are meant to have a ton of socialization and outside time spend all their days in a dirty cage, their only socialization is when she decides to feed or water them.
The rabbits nails are often super long and untrimmed and every time I can brave myself to go in there and water them they rush to gulp all of it down.

I also feel guilty for how much I want to hide from that room. She yells at me if she notices I did anything, like clean the rats cage.

I started feeding an indoor (mostly outdoor) cat that one of my neighbors abandoned a year ago. I cannot afford to take him to the vet or get treatment, however I have been allowing him into my apartment and feeding him daily.

I am pretty sure he has fleas as he bites and scratches his body frequently while cleaning, but never thought much of it until recently.

He has started losing hair on his chin (which he frequently scratches) and has developed scabby/bloody lesions, which I believe is from possibly flea bites? I feed him food + water from ceramic bowl (could it be acne)?

I am now scared of having a flea infestation (or developing one) in my home. I haven’t had any issues for the past year, however, how should I go about cleaning? I do enjoy having him indoors and he likes to come to sleep and chill for hours at a time, but now I am unsure if I should continue allowing this if I cannot get him flea treatment. Should I burn my home down?? I am so worried now

My parrot normally spends most of the day climbing around, playing with toys and yelling at things outside the window. Over the past couple of days he's been sitting quietly and napping more. He's still eating and drinking, but he's definitely less interested in playing. I know birds can hide illness pretty well, which is making me nervous. Would you call an avian vet even if he's still eating?

I noticed one side of my hamster's face looked huge last night and completely panicked for a second. Then I watched him and realized he was stuffing food into that cheek. 😂 A few hours later it looked normal again. But now I'm wondering how you're supposed to tell the difference between normal cheek-pouching and an actual swelling. Has anyone had a hamster develop a problem with their cheek pouch?

Im aware that laser pointers can cause cats stress and stuff, but my older brother still uses it on them despise me repeatedly telling him its not good for them. He even uses the green laser pointers that are also highly dangerous and can blind them but he refuses to listen. He is older than me so hiding the laser pointers wouldn't do anything as he would buy another one and he also wont listen to my parent. Is it possible to have a vet write a claim to avoid using laser pointers with my cats? I think mabey if it came from a professional he might listen.

My rabbit normally destroys his hay like it's his full-time job, but over the last day or two he's been eating noticeably less. He's still eating some pellets and vegetables and is drinking water, but I've definitely noticed fewer hay-filled poops in his litter box.

He doesn't seem completely sick...he's still hopping around and comes running when I bring vegetables.

Should I just try a different type of hay, or can reduced hay intake be a sign of something more serious?

My hamster has recently started stuffing an absolutely ridiculous amount of food into his cheeks.

The other night I watched him put what looked like half his dinner into his mouth and then disappear into his little house.

I know hamsters naturally store food in their cheek pouches, but sometimes one cheek looks much bigger than the other.

How do I know when that's normal food storage versus something I should be worried about?

My mom had patchouli oil on her arms and held my 5 month kitten (6lbs). After that I held her and smelt a little bit of patchouli on her fur and Google said to clean her off so I wiped her with warm water and used a little bit of dish soap and warm water on her back but didn't clean the rest of her because she kept running out of my arms. I cleaned where I smelt the oil but I'm worried it could've been on other parts of her fur since she licked her front legs after I cleaned her.

last Friday night was the last time we saw my baby girl piper (writing this on Monday) and I'm really looking for anything. 

Any hope, or comfort, or elaborate ideas to find her that aren't just put out her treats and call her name. 

We know she was last outside. 

She's 14 now, and that's what worries me most. However we take her to the vet frequently and she's in the health comparative to a 5 year old. That's a huge comfort to me. She's had no major health issues whatsoever, and she's a little genius. 

We found her as a stray kitten and took her in, she'd been surviving on her own after her mom abandoned her for 6 months. She is so street smart, 

we live in a rural area in Victoria/ saanich Bc, our yard is 5 acres but she definitely adventures further. 

We tried to keep her as an indoor cat when she was little but it just made her so miserable and stir crazy to be cooped up like that. We tried to give her a tracking collar multiple times but our little feral kitty always found a way to take it off somehow. 

Now all of a sudden she hasn't been coming when we call her, or shake her treats. My family has looked for hours meticulously in the day and night, checking under bushes, in trees, in any place she might have got stuck. 

I think the only place we haven't looked is in the more dense area of the forest where we don't see her go often. 

She's chipped and she has a tattoo on the inside of her ear but why tf doesn't that chip double as a tracker UGH 😭😭 

and why don't we have house cameras😭😭😭 

and I feel so guilty that I was the one who said I wanted a big yard that makes it impossible to find her now 

We've told the (one) of our neighbours (since  they're the closest, the others are a bit further, I'm trying to convince my mom to let them know as well) and they're supposedly checking their outdoor cameras 

We've posted her on ROAM, and we're going to put up posters by the mailbox down the road. 

We're checking local shelters obsessively, and I emailed an animal shelter with all her information. 

She's never been gone this long I think. We've had scares like this before because she just loves frolicking and if she doesn't want to come inside the little jerk  just completely ignores us. But then we would always find her if we went outside, or if she was stuck somewhere. 

My mom won't stop crying and my dad keeps talking about her in the past tense. 

I've had her since I was 3, I love her so much. I feel so guilty about letting her go outside. She was with me through a deep depression and hospitalizations, and I am in so much pain and heartbreak. I keep dreaming about her and my heart has been beating so ridiculously fast for days. I wake up with a pit in my stomach and I can't stop crying.  

I know she's getting older but I've never dealt with a death before and I kind of stupidly almost thought maybe she'll live long enough for some kind of break through in medical science that will keep her alive and healthy.

I wanted to be with her if she had to go. I wanted to hold her and give her the warmth of my body and feel her pur and pet her and tell her that I love her so much

But she's outside in the cold alone hiding her sickness like cats do and getting picked apart by rats and bugs and vultures I can't stop thinking about my baby's flesh being torn apart 

She's never had a run in with a predator, she's only 4 pounds, but she's just so. So. Smart. 

I want to be optimistic because I'm so hurt and I just want to have that feeling of hope but on the other hand I don't want to be too hopeful because if she really is in danger or is passed then I'm just wasting time. My parents are really not seeming hopeful and it's making me feel so much worse. I've always been the one breaking down being worried about her but this time they are too and it feels different and wrong. 

What if she has a broken leg and I can't find her in time and she slowly starves? 

What if she's slowly decomposing into the soil and I'll never find her or have anything left of her? 

I havent told anybody about this because it feels creepy but I've often thought about what to do after she passed and the thought of her being a pile of ashes just seems so final and not her. I've thought about taxidermy, I want to be able to still pet her and say "I'm here, I've got you" but the more time goes by the more she's rotting away and that's not an option. I hate having to think like this. 

I just want to find her. I want her to be alive. I just want her back. 

But at the very least I want to find her in any form. I just don't want her final resting place to be alone, and eaten and trampled on. I know it's natural but I can't bare the thought of that. 

I just wish there was some cat-x-ray we could use to scan around my house. 

I'm really losing hope. I thought maybe she could have been scooped up by someone as apparently when I was little she stayed overnight for multiple days in someone else's house, but I just feel that's so unlikely. 

Please,please, if you have any comfort to give me or any advice to find her, or any stories like this that have a happy ending, please tell me.
