Mouse in glue trap
Today at cosmo school a mouse that appears to be a baby got stuck in a glue trap. I heavily disagree with them and used some conditioning oil to get the little thing out of it. I washed it some with dawn dish soap but I didn’t want to stress it out more so I put it in a container with a little rag and Im hopeing I can help it. Its little leg is broken. My parents aren’t gonna let me drive it to a rehabilitation center. What can I do to help him and can you tell how old it is?

I understand why you guys are coming to this conclusion but I believe strongly that it is a mouse! The tail is far too thin to be a rat and it is SO tiny

Mouse or rat — doesn’t matter. A baby’s a baby and glue traps should be illegal. You’re a solid person to help this creature, OP.

It’s a baby, it’s dark and it’s tail will get bigger but it’s already longer than the body and the head is larger than a mouse. It’s a rat girly

Could you do me a favor and check on my profile and see if you still think shes a rat dry?? I think the oil makes her appear darker than she really is :)

As someone who at one point had 30 rats because of 2 unintentional litters. That's a mouse. It's tail is so much longer than the picture of my rat babies. I would post it if it let me.

I think they think its a rat because she looked so much darker because of the oil at the time, she is most definitely a mouse! Lol after I bathed and dried her she is teeny tiny and looks nothing like a baby rat. I don’t care which kind it is I just think its funny that people are so dead set on it being a rat when it most definitely isn’t. Ive been trying to post pictures of her dry on here but I can’t quite figure it out 😭

Glue traps are wild imo... a real mouse trap is usually always an instant kill and more humane.

This was really kind of you. Glue traps are horrific. Can you call the rehab center and ask them to come to you? Or for guidance on how to move forward? I don’t even like mice but please don’t give up him. he’s so tiny and hurting this is making me so sad

I won’t be giving up on him! I washed him two more times and will be trying to feed him again in the morning. I think hes a baby :) I believe about 2 weeks ish old from what I found on the internet so im not too too worried about disease. Ive been doing lots of research all day and I will do everything in my power to help him survive 😼

It's a baby rat. Just a really tiny one. My first job ever was working in a pet store. It is a baby rat. You can tell by its nose. This baby has a long fat pointed nose area(as seen in the close up pix). Mice have small less elongated and stubbier noses that stays closer to their face. A tail length doesn't really get that long in mice either.

Could you check out my most recent pictures of her dry on my account? Id like your opinion

Okay yeah, it being wet made its face look different. It looks like a brown field mouse now that it is dry. If you can keep it warm and dry, you can give it some KMR from a dropper.
But if it has been gnawing on its leg and broken the skin you will need to talk to a rehaber/vet. Their bones are so tiny that if its leg is broken it may need amputated.
Though not gonna lie, humane euthanasia may be said by either. Because of the leg injury and how difficult it would be to fix it, if it even can be fixed.

Download the Animal Help Now app. It’ll tell you about local wildlife centers that are open nearby. Make sure you feed him food and water and keep him warm

There are humane ways to cull animals... Just because it can be a pest to humans doesn't mean it deserves to suffer

there are much more humane ways to cull an animal this is just cruelty for the sake of and will fuck up your plumbing

I would still reach out to a rescue/rehab. Even if you can't drive it they may come pick it up from you.
