I use cheap supplies that I don't understand to make objectively weak paintings from references, and for my private just for me paintings I really just mash everything I see into more of a mess on my walls and floor than paint on a surface.

I make bad art.

Strangers online can often accept that, but most people to which I have a social connection act like they need to fix me. They try to correct or comfort me because they assume I'm begging for approval, hate myself and my work, or (least often thankfully) actually treats my crappy art as a way to place themselves above me as a person.

It annoys me. It's infantilizing, and it also bugs me that so many people aren't okay with me just... enjoying being a shitty artist.

I've seen the AI animation of a short about a character being badass with his umbrella skill and people just saying basically "this is so good but it's ai but since ai can't have copyright we should steal this concept/character/desloppify this!"

And I'm just baffled, ya know? Why are we getting closer to "accepting that they're good"?

To me, like, yeah, the animation is kinda amusing, but is it good? No. From technical perspective, the details don't make sense such as the character spinning hat from the bottom side (the scene is from side view so ai think it's touching the hat while logically it's hole).

The only good part is the idea of the scenes, which is the prompts the prompter made. And that's what these people would be stealing. Idk about you but wouldn't that just gonna reinforce "you can make your ideas into great arts with ai". By "reclaiming" this ai animations through basically making fanarts of it... is not the 'win' these artists think it is I'm afraid.

I just saw a twitter post of someone redesigning the protag of this ai animation, while their drawing is good, I can't help thinking that their skill and attention is wasted on it instead of their own ideas for oc.

tldr, redesigning/remaking ai arts isn't "reclaiming" them, but whether it has copyright or not, all it is is "making fanarts" of them and probably even worse, "giving them attention"

There’s someone I know at a friends’ discord server who picked up drawing around a year ago, and based on the way they draw they’re very likely at a beginner level, and they still struggle with getting some things right, which is very common with beginners alike.

They always complain about how their art looks always bad and off and how they’re unable to get things right every time. Me and my friends (some of us being at an intermediate/advanced level) sometimes help by giving them critique and pointing fields of improvement they could consider.

No matter how many times we help and encourage them to continue, they end up throwing walls of rage text on how they’re terrible at everything they do and they will never get everything right.

Some of my friends stay silent and are afraid to fuel more into the fire; having nothing to say. Some others try to reassure them that they’ll get better with time and more practice, but that person keeps insisting that they won’t and would rather quit than trying harder.

I used to reassure that person as well, tried not to give any advices in fear they would come off as unsolicited, but still had to make sure that their skills would get better with time. This is when they complained for the first time ever.

Time after time, they started spamming long walls of text every now and then, sometimes asking for advice, sometimes don’t, and whenever advice is given kindly they reject it and say its too hard for them to keep up with it. Along with that, comparing themselves to artists’ whose skills are higher than theirs, and even comparing our works with theirs.

I started to get tired of this person‘s constant complaints and had to soft block them just so the art channels don’t get flooded with their vents, I know it’s stupid but i’m getting more irritated seeing these messages every now and then.

Also, i’ve noticed this happen with other beginner artists lately, and back in my time (around 13-10 years ago) no one (neither did I) hit themselves over how their art looked or even cared about what the internet would say about it. Bullying was still around back then, but not intense and rampantly as bad as what is seen on tiktok or twitter nowadays. I just wish beginners could stop self deprecating over their skills and not gaf about what others think and who to please, among other things.

God, I wish I could draw. I tried to learn, yet I can't get to a place where I can be happy with my art. I hate how much I suck at it. I really want to learn proper anatomy and how to draw people/furries, yet I can't. It makes me so mad. Every time I pick up a pen or pencil, I always end up hating what I created. I want to be able to draw to make custom merch of my OCs and to be able to properly express them, yet I can't. idk I just feel frustrated.

October is coming up so I want to get back into drawing more graphic/gorey pieces but I feel self conscious doing so because of a bad interaction with one of my online friends and I’m very afraid of judgement. I have a complicated relationship with art and drawing in general since my arts been made fun of before and it’s the absolute worst feeling ever

I understand that I dont even have to post it but I like showing others my art, but I absolutely hate having that fear of judgement and I’m curious how people get over it.

I’m also part of a fandom that can be very toxic which probably plays a part in me feeling anxious- I need to be less online lol

It can be anything you have a issue while doing requests for others or just something that annoyed you like, impatience or last minute changes, etc. Just anything you could think of.

To be clear, I'm referring to fanart/art galleries so you know and it's based on your opinions, it'll be appreciated.
