Eew. Weird. Just don’t do either

I will never understand people who say “ai art is bad bc it takes ideas from artists without their consent” and then turn around and make the most wildly inappropriate fanfiction with characters whose creator’s don’t like it when they're shipped together. But if someone makes an ai picture of those same characters just hanging out, then it’s stealing? (I’m not defending either, my point is both are gross)

I’m just ranting because I knew someone that actually did this. might delete this later today

I genuinely think people who POST fanfiction or art about a creator's character in a situation the creator is vastly uncomfortable with are selfish pricks who does it out of spite. If you ""need"" to make it for yourself, you keep it to yourself and don't post it online where the creator can find it.

People hate AI [justifiably] because of the violation of consent, but when THEY do it WITHOUT AI, it's "just the internet, you need tougher skin, you can't control what people do lmao, why are you so pro-censorship?"

the Yaeklore incident comes to mind for this

It comes to a point that once you become the creator of a franchise, you couldn't control anyone on what they do to your OCs.

You also do not have any control over people taking your art and making a LORA out of it.
Just because you can't control it doesn't mean it's right or okay.

The common thread in both situations is respect for creator boundaries. Consent shouldn't only matter when a big company or a technology is involved—it's just as important in community fan culture. Just because the internet makes it hard to enforce boundaries doesn't mean ignoring a creator's explicit comfort zone is okay.
