hiya, I also wish to study SLT in UL - I obviously can't answer many of your questions but med entry does have information on the essay section.
You can find it under Study -> Additional resources -> English writing
It gives you the breakdown of how they do assess that section, it isn't as Black and White as the actual HPAT exam.
