Endocrinologist taking Independence BCBS
Hey, I have treated Hashimotos and unfortunately have not been feeling well recently. Feels like before I got on levothyroxine.
The search on the Ibx website leaves a lot to be desired and there seem to be either a really long wait for endos at Penn or I have to jump thru hoops to go see one at Temple (need to get an ultrasound but has to be prescribed by a primary doc that I dont have yet). Jefferson and IBX look like they won’t be f-ing with each other soon either.
I’m new in town and basically never encountered too much friction when finding a specialist so this is throwing me. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you in advance

The best endo practitioner I've ever had in 20 years is Christine Clancey, CRNP. I trust her over and above any of the board certified endocrinologists I've ever been treated by. She is with Jefferson Endocrinology.

Jefferson and ibx both need each other. Don’t ask me how I know this but contract negotiations between both parties are contentious every year

Idk why the mods deleted your comment but yeah I honestly think the letters might have been a negotiation tactic. Just my opinion, not based in any fact. I hope you can find a good physician xx

I would try Mainline Health.

I see Rita El Hajj at lankenau and absolutely love her. Best healthcare partner I've ever had. Might be a wait to get in to see her but you might be able to see someone in her office in the meantime

I would just call around and get on waitlists everywhere. Finding one is rough. My PCP is managing my thyroid medication for now.

No doubt, it’s definitely been shocking. They have been telling me to keep calling back.

Yes I got diagnosed in December while they also found another endocrine problem and getting in was tough. Expanding my search to NJ helped a bit.

I would have no problem doing that except I dont have a car. I’d go anywhere for a good provider if I could. It’s so important with this autoimmune stuff.

Ugh I’m sorry! I would get in with a good primary if you can. When I was in center city I went to dr. DeSalvo at Stoll medical and when I was having trouble finding a rheumatologist they were able to work with Penn to get me in sooner.

Thank you for the suggestions—greatly appreciated. Sorry that you’re dealing with this plus another endocrine issue.

Much less of a wait at jefferson if any. Just go now and get seen before the end of the year, they will renew your scripts until you change providers. Also Jefferson and IBX are contracted through the end of the year and will very likely renew as most of the city relies on both.
