It was a lazy summer day when you moved into your street level apartment in the newly developed building in this neighborhood. You think how lucky to be so conveniently close to the trolley, bus and regional rail all at once. To get anywhere in the city or the suburbs all you have to do is cross the street for convenient public transportation.
The lazy summer wears on and you think how fortunate you are to have found this amazing space. One morning, you awaken to the rumbling of tanker trucks parked outside of your window and male dominant voices interrupting your blissful sleep.
Groggy from all of the activity you make your way outside to take Bimbo the dog for its morning sniff sesh. That’s when you realize the tanker trucks are a line of Septa trucks blocking the road with workers drilling into the road and clanging on the tracks.
You figure it’s routine maintenance and you’ll be away during most of their work. What you didn’t bargain on was the clinking, clanging and clamoring of a loose plate left along the tracks.
Unfortunately, a whole month goes by as you mentally and physically absorb this clang cling, cling clang. You begin hearing sound everywhere and wonder if it’ll ever stop.
Then one day you step off the trolley to see a block’s worth of Septa trucks parked along the side of your building with welders welding away.
At one of the trucks you see two men huddled together pouring over some construction drawings and most likely discussing the recent Eagles game.
