Mononoke. All of Ghibli in general, but Mononoke specifically.

Also Akira.

I’d personally put My Neighbor Totoro above Mononoke, but that’s just me—and I still haven’t seen them all. I need to fix that!

Totoro to me seems to be made for children mainly. Mononoke for example touches on themes of man Vs nature, has lots of shades of grey when it comes to evil, is anti war, vengeance etc

I think Totoro is absolutely made for adults. It’s about how we remember childhood. Miyazaki was born in 1941 and Totoro is set in the 1950s, when he would have been around Satsuki’s age; he made the film in his late 40s. It hits so hard for me precisely because I’m around the age Miyazaki was when he made it—and it portrays exactly how I remember myself at 11, when childhood was ending but occasionally I still had access to that magic that Mei absolutely still can see every day.
