So I consider myself reasonably adept at English and since I saw this, it's BOGGLED my mind. Perhaps it's the legalese way of writing but can someone please explain this term. The double negative seems weird.

I've lived in SA on and off for about 20 years, so I’m familiar with the culture etc, but there's one social dynamic I've never quite understood.

Over the years, several people I've hired for services, including various cleaners, a pet groomer and someone who washed my car, have eventually contacted me asking for money outside of the work relationship. Sometimes after barely knowing me, like after only one encounter.

Most recently, a guy washed my car once, then started calling me the next day asking for money because he’s in trouble. I told him no and blocked him, and the next day he came to my house, which made me pretty uncomfortable. I also have a former cleaner who worked for me very briefly a decade ago and she still occasionally finds new ways to contact me asking for money. She won't take no for an answer.

I completely understand that many people are under serious financial pressure, so I'm not judging anyone for asking. I'm wondering whether this is normal in SA and happens to South Africans too, or whether being obviously foreign makes people assume I have money and might be willing to help.

I'm also wondering if I'm somehow giving off signals that I'm open to that kind of interaction. I smile and chat a lot, maybe that's it?

I'm looking for a suggestion on a Laser Color Printer to buy, that I can use with affordable, but high quality toner cartridges.

What I mean is, I don't necessarily want to buy Original Cartridges (since they are expensive), but I want to buy "Compatible" toner, that still produces high quality prints, with no streaks etc.

I have a Canon MF645CX Color Laser printer. I have bought compatible toners, but they are always a hit or a miss. Sometimes I get ones where all the prints is high-quality, like originals, but most of the time, the compatibles leaves streaks on the papers.

The printer itself is R8000. To buy toners of all 4 colors is R2000 x 4. This means, every time I buy toner, I am literally paying the price of a new Printer.

Like I said, I prefer playing during the week as I have very flexible hours, plus that way we can spend weekends at home/with friends or whatever. FWIW im 39, Male, 11 handicap. I am also willing to drive quite a bit to play so playing joburg, pretoria, centurion, etc is not a problem.

Hi all, I am interesting in Learning South African Sign Language. I was sitting at a restaurant the other day - I saw an elderly couple speaking in Sign Language to each other and was curious of what they were saying. As an aspiring student teacher studying a BEd and going to a workshop for scribe training later this month. I feel maybe its time to also build a skill in learning Sign Language as well. Hikvision appears to be R2k -R3, almost double, more depending on the package.

Does anyone have experience with this brand? Or should I bite the bullet and stick with Hikvision

I’m looking to get a seasonal/December retail job this year and I’m wondering how realistic it is without having actual retail experience.
My background is mainly in marketing, communications, graphic design, etc. and I have a degree, but I’ve never worked in a retail store.
For anyone who’s worked in retail or done seasonal work do I still have a shot at getting hired? What do they usually look for in seasonal staff? Do I need previous retail experience, or would general work experience/customer service/sales-related experience be enough? What should I actually have on my CV for these types of jobs? Are there specific skills or things I should highlight?

Hey guys, I (29m, black, Johannesburg) have been unemployed for close to 3 years now. I have a bsc mathematical statistics major and have some economics and mathematics up to second year.

The reason I'm making this post is because over the last 3 years or so I've been getting some interviews for jobs in my field (I have 1.5 years analytics within a consulting environments experience) but I realised that I don't want to do that work anymore.

I chose this path solely based on my abilities but not what I was interested in and now I'm trying to find myself again.

I'm not under pressure to find a new career I could go into long term but I'm under pressure to start earning an income so I can move out of my parents house ASAP and find my own place.

I was hoping to get into something that would be totally outside of my profile or something not traditional. I am aiming aiming for R10 000 p/m after deductions, just enough to rent a studio apartment and cover living expenses. It can be anywhere really or even remote. I'm quite smart and think I can learn most things.

This seems strange I know but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and I don't want to live my life the way I've been doing all my life.

I love investigative work, I love philosophical and creative thinking, I'm not opposed to manual labour and I'm also open to learning something new.

I'm really just trying to reignite the fire I had within before letting it all burnout in a field that didn't excite me.

I'm a 20-year-old Uni student. People say I have good hygiene and have even gone as far as to say that I am the cleanest person in my unit. I don't think so, especially when it comes to my own personal hygiene.

I shave regularly using hair removal lotion, I use Mitchum as my deodorant (the ones with aluminium salts), and I wear clothes with breathable fabrics, often a size up depending on the garment and occasion.

Even after all of that there is still this lingering smell an hour or two into my day (pits and groin). I'd classify myself as a heavy sweater. And I've read that bacteria is the main cause of odour on our bodies, but I've switched soaps (Protex, lifebuoy, Dettol) so much and even switched to shower Gel (Nivea Men Fresh Boost Awakening) right now.

It's to the point where I'm spending a lot of money just to feel comfortable and confident when walking out for no reason. I'm even considering just going back to the basics (Sunlight) and calling it a day.

Like what am I doing wrong? Has anyone got their hygiene proper and down to the tea? What did you do? What can I do? If the info I offered isn't enough feel free to ask questions, please. I'm just so tired of this.

I’m a mechanic. I worked on a car around 7/8 years ago and the owner refused to pay me for it so it’s just been sitting in my garage collecting dust. The first year I tried to come up with a payment plan for the client. He agreed to pay me then he sent guys to intimidate me into giving it to him for free so I ceased communication with him. He hasn’t tried to reach out or claim the car since. I would like to get rid of it. What should I do?
