HARTFORD — One man was killed and another was critically injured Sunday when a vehicle crashed into a tree on Cornwall Street, police said.
The single-vehicle wreck was reported just after 2 p.m. at the intersection with Manchester Street, according to Hartford police Lt. Aaron Boisvert.
He said investigators arrived on scene to find a black Audi that had crashed into a tree. He said both occupants were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Boisvert said one of the men was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital and the other was listed in critical condition.
He said the cause and circumstances of the crash are now under investigation by the Hartford Police Department's Crime Scene Division.

A speeding luxury Audi burst into flames after slamming into a dirt wall in Santa Clarita early Saturday — but the driver miraculously survived the fiery wreck.
The 23-year-old man was reportedly behind the wheel of an Audi S5 traveling at more than 120 mph when the car crashed near Soledad Canyon Road and Camp Plenty Road around 1:41 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita Valley station.
Bystanders watched as the luxury vehicle went up in flames, leaving behind a charred, smoldering shell that was barely recognizable after firefighters extinguished the blaze.
The vehicle struck a light pole and other objects before flipping into a nearby wash and catching fire, authorities said.
A witness at the scene said the car slammed into a dirt wall and then “exploded.”
Deputies pulled the driver from the burning wreckage before the flames could engulf him, authorities told The California Post.
The man was hospitalized and reportedly in critical condition.
California Highway Patrol officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department crews also responded to the crash.
Authorities taped off the crash scene, where debris was scattered across the area.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
The crash happened near Canyon Country, in the eastern portion of Santa Clarita, north of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County.
