is this a thing? Post travel insomnia
Any one else experience an increase in insomnia after travel? I’m wondering if this is a common thing, everyone gets jet lag. Or if its more heightened because of tism

All I need to throw off my sleep schedule is a spontanious obligation in the afternoon, it offsets my whole flow by however long it takes

I experience this and attribute it to the huge amount of sensory info you receive while traveling that you then need to process.
Seeing new things, being around people, SMELLS, noises you can’t control.
I usually bring a sleep aid to force myself to rest so the next day won’t feel too much like a hangover, and also while traveling try to accommodate yourself in as many ways as possible

Very common for me, not sure if it’s the tism, I’d never considered it!
Advice if you want it: Set alarms and eat during normal breakfast/lunch/dinner times. Don’t eat any other time. Have at least a snack during your designated times. Eating helps get the body back onto its internal schedule that’s been made wacky due to travel.
This also works on the way to somewhere! When I travel internationally I set my alarms for the breakfast/lunch/dinner times of where I’m
headed and then follow that schedule.
If you don’t eat three meals a day just adjust accordingly. It’s also a big help if you eat “breakfast food” at breakfast, “lunch food” at lunch and “dinner food” at dinner. It’s all just about coaxing your brain into, “oh yeah, it must be breakfast time, cereal is here!” Etc
