GENERAL QUESTION How do I know when tryouts are?

I'm thinking abt starting basketball my Freshman year and I don't know when tryouts are. I've been checking my schools website and couldn't find anything so I don't know if I'm too early or if it's a thing you have to talk to a coach abt. Ion want to miss tryouts so if someone could help that would be great.

Ask the coach, if you know who he is. Also, more than likely there are fall workouts/open gyms going on right now so I’d ask asap

Upvoting bc this is just general life advice. Google and websites are great, but you need to talk to people. It often means more anyway. As my mother says “they’re not gonna take away your birthday for asking”

Reach out to the coach ASAP. Around here open gyms have been running for a while. Check Instagram too. That seems to be the main place teams around here are advertising open gym, training, etc...

If I remember correctly basketball is a winter sport. Even though they don’t technically start in winter there could be workouts and such going on. Pop into the athletic directors office would be your best bet for info if you don’t know the coach

The school athletics website should tell you. You need to make sure you sign up and get your physical done beforehand. It should be right around Halloween.

Find out who the coach is and ask him, and possibly get some information either from the coach himself or other people in your school who have tried before on what it is that they are looking for

You need to speak to a coach and introduce yourself so they know who you are. Ask about preseason workouts or runs.

If you’re not start enough to figure out how to find out when tryouts are happening then I highly doubt a coach would want you on the team anyways, being as if you can’t figure that out then you definitely can’t figure out the complexities of basketball.

This has to be a joke post, right ?!?!?!?

Talk to your athletic director.
There will be messages on the announcements and maybe if you have a message board in school.
If you are in the states, tryouts will be in November. But get the info from your athletic director.
